Feel bad for Hill. He wanted to stay here and be one of the franchise s longest serving players. Plus, he was a treat to watch skate. It looked like he floated above the ice some nights. Not a big scorer but a nice piece to have when you are going for it. I'm sure Seca is waiting to see how this team comes out of the gates. If they look good, he flips picks and players for a stud or two.
Great kid. Spot on to about the skating. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he carves out a pro career.

Three 2nds, 3rd, two 4ths, 5th we've acquired this summer to go with what we already had + have some young talent in Martone, Wainwright I'm sure teams would love. If Seca wants they have all they need to truly go all-in.

In my fantasy world if Shane Wright is sent back...... Sarnia best be ALL in for him. Our one weakness is a game breaker / Elite Center. He checks those boxes & then some + addresses what spaceman mentioned with losing Hill (2way Fs). Wyatt Johnston fits that bill too. But I shouldn't get ahead of myself. Gotta see how we look first 😂

Ok well we can turn back on this deal in a few months and see where it goes.

It kind of reminds me of getting rid of Ribeau last year and his value sky rocketed as indicated on what Niagara traded him for. Hoover can play 3 seasons IMO he will be a solid add for Sarnia. Doesn’t hurt he’s a local and can only bring more intensity in his game.

WJ
I have to entirely agree.Hoover will grow on you with his work ethic ,awesome body checks and his activation on offense. The Wolves should have kept him on the roster to see his maturation in to a force to be reckoned with. Revisit this trade in a few months and you will see this was a steal for Sarnia.

I truly hope so, if he can play good defence and be a force physically I will be happy, obviously doesn’t look like an offensive threat.

Seca said they have one of the best bluelines in the ohl.So aquiring Hoover is just for depth & nothing else.

Seca said they have one of the best bluelines in the ohl.So aquiring Hoover is just for depth & nothing else.
“He’s a real strong defender, competitive player, and his work ethic is excellent,” said Seca. “Our coaches are very familiar with him and we think he’s going to round out our back end which, in our opinion, is one of the stronger ones in the league.”

I agree with him. Think the upside of our Dcore is very high & now we have incredible depth with Hoover, Campbell & Young. He's done a great job patching holes (size, skill, D depth) the roster had. Something tells me he will do everything in his power to address the lack of a game breaker at C.

Seca continues in the observer this time saying "“You look at the depth that, say, the Hamilton Bulldogs had last year. Parts of the season they used between nine and 10 defencemen,” Seca said. “When it came down to the OHL finals to get to the Memorial Cup, they had the oldest and, we thought, most physical back end in the league."

His quotes pretty much solidify what I was thinking. He's getting ahead of needing to add an extra D at the deadline for insurance come playoffs. Also, clearly wants the backend to play with some snarl & they should with Dillingham, Romeo, MacDonald & Hoover whenever he's in. Daviault plays chippy too just isn't as physically imposing as those guys. Be fantastic if Mast could consistently use his big body. only does it occasionally but when he does it packs a punch.

I think we are starting to see a pattern with how Seca GMs & I like it. This is his 4th or 5th trade where they add a guy that maybe the players current team aren't as high on, or aren't using them correctly (in their mind) that they go out & get. He clearly has a lot of respect for his scouts too as he mentions them a ton when he makes deals.

I also like that he likes to get ahead of stuff. traded Thornton really early, traded Dann before camp, trade Hill before the season starts + All really solid returns. Added depth D before the season starts. My confidence level is pretty high right now that if an elite C is available come the deadline he'll get it done. The way he's spoken all summer & in camp is one of a guy who knows this is their shot & they don't wanna screw it up. been all about urgency, hard work, commitment, etc on & off the ice.

I’d imagine we will have both mast and Romeo back on Tuesday. Can’t see either one of them surviving the big first cut which clubs usually make after first exhibition game. I’d imagine both Vilmanis and limper-Lantz will be back next week aswell. Should have a full line up for next weekend. Only one I’m not sure about is gaudreau, clubs usually take a longer look at goalies. If he’s not back it will be good for Grover.

Brock Otten has us finishing 4th in our conference. 1-8 in order…. Flint, Guelph, Kitchener, sarnia, Windsor, Owen Sound, London, Saginaw.

He also has Gaudreau winning goalie of the year and Porter Martone being on the first rookie all star line. I think Voit will have the most assists in the league this year….19 year old season and the players around him will be Older and better.

Fair rankings. Shocked OS is at 6. Not sure how he doesn't see them improve at all from last yr. I just don't see it with Guelph. Young D with a complete unknown in net & not an overwhelming amount of talent up front. But others seem to think highly of them so I'm missing something.

KIT will definitely out score us, but I much prefer our D & G. Will be a fun battle between the 5-6 teams at the top all year.

Lines tonight vs WSR who's dressing the same lineup as Thurs (missing 3 regulars)

Namestnikov-Sikic-Burke
Doucette-Wainwright-Martone
MacDonell-Filak-McIntyre
Doherty-Harper

Ritchie-Campbell
Hoover-Dillingham
MacDonald-Daviault

Grover in net.

I'm a little worried Voit might be banged up. He only played once for Toronto at the rookie tournament & he's the only vet that won't play in pre season for us. Interesting to note in todays piece the OHL did on Sarina, Letang said Doherty "Will be around for most of the year". Bit surprised to hear that honestly, because he looks like a guy that could use a yr to get stronger imo + play T6 minutes opposed to 13th F.

Pretty obvious he likes Campbell quite a bit too & obviously loves Martone's skillset, size, physicality. Big emphasis on playing better D in front of Ben along with much better special teams.

Could mean Doherty might play for legionnaires and willl be around the sting all year for practise and a couple games. Who knows. Also looks like lalkin has been let go unless he’s hurt. Yes I think Voit is hurt, he made Torontos main camp but was omitted, I’m assuming due to injury, Hope it’s just day to day.

How was Hoover tonight
Well it could not of started ANY worse for him lol. First shift he took a slapper, it was blocked & they scored on a breakaway.

Outside of that I didn't mind what I saw considering he just got here & probably hasn't even practiced with the team. Laid 2 beautiful hits & just missed on another. Definitely had WSR guys on their toes. Kept it simple & made some nice outlets. Needs some refining but I see why SAR added him.

Oh and made a nice play on SARs lone goal. Intercepted a pass then feathered one to MacDonell for a BA.

That game was awful. Terrible D and terrible goaltending. Actually terrible forwards as well, since they only scored one goal.
I thought one line looked good again..... the same one as the previous game.
MacDonell, Filak and McIntyre. I would keep them as a solid third line that can create some offence.
It looked like Glover was disinterested tonight. Not a great effort.
For guys fighting for spots, that was awful in so many ways. And guys like Sikic, Burke and Namestikov didn't stand out at all- and they are supposed to be too 6 players Eighty to one hundred point guys should be dancing around in preseason with the best players at NHL camps.
Why hasn't Voit or Romeo played in a game yet? Still at NHL camps?

I be liege Voit is injured, and I heard Romeo was sent back maybe didn’t get to sarnia in time. I don’t think burke, Sikic or namestnikov will be in the 80-100 point range. More like 60-80 range. I think Vilmanis and Voit will be in the 80-100 point range tho.

I don't think Voit is in town. Looks like the Leafs still have him but not playing him. Might be to expose him to a pro work ethic and attitude - that's what I'd do. Wouldn't hurt.

Idk I think he got injured at torontos prospect camp because he hardly played and he made torontos main camp and was omitted from it.
