It’s Guryev. It was beyond dumb, completely uncalled for and he’ll rightfully get suspended. It IS one of the good reasons why the instigator rule is dumb and if there’s a guy that doesn’t deserve that kind of BS, it’s Ty Voit. There are VERY VERY few guys in the league that will or want any part of Artem in reality though and Del Mastro is actually one of those few. Now. Watch the view from the end boards though. I’ve seen Noah Bushnell hit his teammates harder than that in warmups. Literally. You have too. If you think that was Guryev putting anything really into that hit, you’re mistaken. I assure with 100% certainty Ty Voit wouldn’t have been taking part in the kiddie skate afterwards if Guryev was really trying to lay him out. Every single game we watch dudes try to goad Guryev into stuff. Jabbing, running their mouths and getting tough from behind the linesman after the whistle. It gets old. I know. I remember. It’s where the game is now because of the instigator and it’s sad. Same with not being able to ensure the safety of guys like Voit and Pastujov and I’d have to watch the game again but I HIGHLY doubt Ty has at any point this season been that dude being a punk with Guryev. He’s gonna be gone for awhile but watching him this year….I doubt SJ signs him and any Sting that want a crack at him will probably get a shot next year.
When the hit is unexpected and the player being hit does not see it coming or ready to brace for it, it really does not matter how hard the hit is. Voit was completely defenseless and Guryev knew exactly what he was doing. You don't get suspended as many times as he has for nothing. You make it seem like we should feel bad for Guryev because he gets "goaded" into stuff. Maybe he needs to work on his self control and anger issues then idk. If he wants let some steam out, do it to someone who isn't 6 inches shorter and 50 lbs lighter. I could name at least 3 Sting players who would have no issue going toe to toe with him. It's funny because you make the argument that others chirp at him and then hide behind the linesmen....well that's exactly where Guryev was when several Sting players were trying to get at him.
