Gaudreau invited to Canada's camp from Friday until next Monday. Means we'll see Surzycia and Grover playing this weekend for sure.

Congrats to Ben. Tremendous achievement although his play hasn't been where we expected.

Hopefully he goes there & shows out & comes back feeling like himself again.

Best of luck to coach Letang, too. As well as Vilmanis with Latvia

Sucks for Ty and Sasha. It's typical of the US, they push playing in their country like Russia does. As you said, hopefully they tear it up with us over the next few weeks just to stick it to them.
They will. Without a doubt. USA could go off too though. Hockey Canada makes some dumb decisions too. It’s this type of stuff that’s top of the list for USAH.

Oh for sure the US could go off. They're still a very good team. This political stuff in hockey just irks me

From looking at their roster I think it lacks some scoring punch (go figure lol) but sometimes u just need a hot goalie & some team chemistry at this tournament & magic can happen

Are u guys losing anybody to the tournament?

I was looking at the other goalies number this season. Two of the other goalies numbers have been just as bad as gaudreaus. The only goalie with solid numbers is the only goalie undrafted at camp. Funny how that works.

I don’t think so. I believe Belarus qualified last year but I’m not sure if they’re letting them compete. So Kuzmin likely if Belarus is competing. I doubt Slavicek makes the Czech team. I think Lombardi could be productive for Canada but he won’t be getting a look.

I don’t think missing Pastujov will be that bad because they have a bit of that level, that type of player but Voit with a couple elite forwards? C’mon.

Well Voit & Pastujov not getting invited certainly changes the outlook at the remaining 5 games. Though I still have pretty low expectations vs FLT FLT PBO if Burke, MacDonell, Lantz, Vilmanis, Mast & Gaudreau are out.

See if Carson Hall gets a look. Imagine Martone gets some T6 minutes as well.

I have no expectations for this weekend. We have a lot of injuries and that could mean we end up playing with only 8 or 9 forwards along with playing our backup and 3rd string goalie.

Voit & Pastujov literally might play 30 minutes a night lol. Our only hope would be to play incredibly disciplined, smart & are few legitimate Fs score when they have chances along with Surzycia play like he did Sunday.

Yeah pretty much. Surzycia's last two starts have made me way more confident in our goalie situation this weekend

Pastujov was on last years team too & performed well. Makes no sense. They at least warranted an invite.

Gotta be a gut punch for them. Hopefully they can use it as motivation.

i didnt think either would make to to be honest.

Lantz gets a 2 game suspension Punnet nothing
We’ll see. It took a few days for the Guryev suspension to show up but if Lantz is already suspended……..? If Punnett gets nothing that is effing ridiculous. Like just have a LITTLE consistency. It was EASILY as bad as the Burke hit and I don’t care if both players got up or they were done for the season. It’s a dangerous play. Burke kind of rode Piercey to the wall whereas the player turned late on Punnett but it wasn’t THAT late and the Burke shove wasn’t nearly as hard. I mean does the league even know we all can see this?

The Lantz suspension is automatic. No judgement involved. Punnet’s nonsense requires someone to look at it and make a decision.

Officiating is a tough job. They make mistakes. It happens. I just want some semblance of consistency. If Punnett isn't suspended it'll be a joke.

Those 2 plays (Burke's sspd) are nearly identical except Punnett had more speed, force & caused an injury (although Pastujov returned)

It'll be ridiculous. What message is that to the players. We care more that you dangle your mouthguards during play than when you absolutely steam roll a vulnerable opponent head first into the boards....

Wrights been sent to team canada and there's lots of people who think he'll be sent back to the OHL after can't help but think if that happens I hope Letang might help have some influence on getting him to come here considering he's the assistant coach hopefully we will have enough to give up

Will definitely be interesting to follow. I honestly don't see us giving up Martone, but you never know.

Clarke also got loaned & there's a chance he's sent back afterwards, too. Easily be the best Dman in the league if returned. I almost would want him more than Wright but he'd more than likely cost Martone too.

As much as I want another elite T6 F (Harrison, Arcuri, Zhilkin) I think there's a chance we don't get one. As is not many can match the skill, speed of Voit/Pastujov/Burke/Vilmanis as our T4 Fs.

Others are right that we need some sandpaper/grit to go with those guys.. Somebody needs to go win the board battles & screen the goalie for the guys I mentioned. Especially vs FLT, WSR, OS if we are to meet them in the playoffs.

And realistically those guys may cost us, MacDonell & I'm not sure I wanna do that. For the future, but also he's the type of guy u want & need when you are in the playoffs & going on a run, not one your trading away.

I'm not sure who fits it, but we need guys who can be physical, win battles & score around the net. Savard is the obvious choice but SSM wants to host next yr & he'll be back so he may be untouchable unless u overpay.

Lombardi is a really good player imo, but likely after Kressler for versatility and probably not higher than 30-50th forward for Canada

This team has been a bottom feeder for 20 years, and they wont win it all this year no matter who they get. If we give up our young stars for a minute of glory , we are headed for many years of the same. As a 22 year STH I hope we don't sell the farm for a second round finish.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. Gaudreau doesn’t seem to have developed into a difference-maker like, say diPietro a few years ago or Parsons in London. Take that plus the fact that with injuries and all that, the team seems to never have the same guys playing together week to week, I don’t see a championship team here this year.
I hope they can heal up and get some reps with the same linemates in 2022, and Gaudreau has a “Martone experience” and comes back from world competition 100% better than when he left, and they might find lightning in a bottle.
But I look out there & Ottawa seems pretty good, NBay looks pretty good, and in our conference, teams like Saggy, Flint & Windsor look similar to us but have fewer problems to solve than this team does right now.
Still hoping, still cheering, but it looks like a tough road to me.

I 100% agree. We are not a team ready to contend. We get rid of Mac or Martone and it's brutal times in sting land for the next 4 years. Lots of injuries not alot of continuity between the players and who knows if when they are healthy again that the team will gel! Nothing has shown me this year that this is a championship team. I say wait till gaudreau is back and some players get healthy and if things aren't better then stay the course that this current team is on. Giving up young promising players to get a good player for a playoff round that we probably won't win is dumb. Is it possible that we see gaudreau moved this year?
