the 2024 2nd rounder was part of the kyrou trade accounting to the league database. i looked it up, it looks to be correct

Sarnia’s 4th Round Pick in 2023, 2nd Round Pick in 2024, 3rd Round Pick in 2026; Oshawa’s 2nd Round Pick in 2025; and Niagara’s 5th Round Picks in 2026.
Interesting. Sarnia's website & observer says differently.

"The Otters received two second-round draft picks (Erie 2024 and Oshawa 2025), a third-round pick (Erie 2026), a fourth-round pick (Sarnia 2023) and a fifth-round pick (Niagara 2026) along with Daviault."

why must the league be so confusing lol.

looking at Erie's website they left it a bit confusing. They said 2025 2nd was OSH & 2026 5th was NIAs. Didn't say who the other picks belong to

i think they messed up the trade at the league site, probably why they left it empty. eries 2nd was traded to niagara for fimis, and eries 2nd was listed as traded in the kyrou trade but in the league database, its sarnias in the kyrou trade. media team error, sucks but who doesnt mess up from time to time?

either way, no second in the 2024 draft for sarina.

The Fimis trade came a month after the Kyrou trade. Any chance SAR gave ER back their 2nd & 3rd then they flipped them again for Fimis?

Definitely might be right especially if it's the league's database lol. Think u could show me/give me SARs the next 4 Years so I can keep track myself. Always so messy when we go for it or sell off.

Alright thanks. Will definitely write them down & try to keep track.

Who knows. League can be so confusing with all the conditions that they don't explain are for or what picks are dealt or not.

We'll see come the draft or what picks we deal this yr.

conditions on picks are based on years reporting. when moldenhour didnt report, it opened up more picks, when he didnt report last year, it opened up the 2024 2nd round pick to be traded, which it was, to erie. there are just the 3 left that are conditional from the trade and at this point you can pretty much count on getting them back

“If he doesn’t arrive, say, this season, a good chunk of those picks come back,” Seca said. “If he doesn’t arrive next season, we get more of those picks back. On paper, it obviously looks like a very hefty trade, but in reality it’s tiered in that picks will circle back our way.”

We do have a second this year it came back from the Moldenhauer trade we will also be getting back a 2nd 3rd and 4th in 2025 at the end of the season
you got it back last summer. then you traded it to erie. if you dont believe me, believe your gm

Hard to say if anybody gets signed. They have all their D. A kid would have to really stand out to make the team on the backend. Same with in net.

Up front they likely have most spots filled too & the ones that aren't will be fought over by guys like Sim, Degelas, Soares, Harper etc.

But there always seems to be one UFA kid who makes an impression. See if any can this yr.
I wonder if degelas has decided to try and go the NCAA route. He has left the Junior B league and is slated to play with Leamington in the tier 2 junior A league.

I kinda wonder if the reason we haven't put out our camp roster yet is because we're trying to get some of our American guys to come over

I think it's just how they do it. They never release their full roster till camp starts. But you never know.

Degelas has been bouncing all around the last yr. No clue what his plan is. Guess we'll find out next week if he's at camp.

Went to the Legionnaires pre season game tonight. Honestly was pretty impressed. They won 7-6 in OT, the pace was solid & the team's (Chatham the other) had a real dislike for one another. 2 fights & tons of big hits. Loved to see it.

Lucas Durham (2022 13th) was a standout. Big kid, skates well, solid puck skills. Colin Langstaff (FLT) pick was really good as was Jimmy Monks who is an interesting one. Played high-school hockey in Michigan last yr where he had 77 pts in 25 games.

He was first team all-state in 2022. '05 born. Wonder if we see him at camp next week.

Well the legionnaires traded degelas last year mid season that’s the only move he made. Then this off season he decided to leave the maroons on his own to go to tier 2 junior A. Usually when players do that it’s to try and get recognized by a NCAA school.

So what are your guys hopes/expectations for this season? Obviously still a touch early, but i can't see camp impacting it to severely.

I'd say my hopes are they can be a bit of a surprise & push for 6th-7th. My expectation tho is likely them fighting for the final playoff spot with KIT, FLT & potentially WSR after they sell off

Probably get into hopes/expectations for players once camp is finished.

I would say my expectations are mid. But you never know with this league. When the 2017-18 season started our team was only a little better then are team now. And I would argue are D is a bit better then that team in 17-18. You just never know.

Honestly not a bad shout. Just feel that team had more upside. Especially up front. Feel we thought Kyrou would take a big step, same with Salinitri, Ruzicka & Rymsha. This yr I'd be pretty surprised if anyone cracks point per game outside Vilmanis.

Don't think it's impossible for Wainwright or Filak, but those would be pretty big jumps. Sikic just doesn't score enough to put up 70.

Backend has some similarities, but that group was older with a lot more experience. Conference is a bit tougher this yr than that yr too. Aren't many truly weak teams outside KIT & potentially us.

This will be a good test for Letang. He'll have to get them to play very team committed. Nothing will come easy. If they don't put in effort they'll get torched.

My hope for this team is that we see a lot of development from the young players and sneak into the playoffs in the 7th/8th spot. My expectation is that we'll be the worst team in the league. We lost our top five forwards and five of our regular d-men. Half of the roster is going to be new. This is going to be the true test of Letang. We'll have to play a team-oriented game in order to win games.

Sting training camp roster out today. Four players from the '23 draft class are not at camp. Nicholas Kosiba (8th round), Patrick Quinlan (8th round), Chase Jette (14th round), Jack Beardsley (15th round). Notably 12th round pick Dylan Leucke is at camp.

I was happy to see Leucke's name it sucks we can't sign him though

Luecke's name definitely sticks out the most. The rest are as expected then obviously all the FA invites.

Do we know for sure they can't sign him? I know only 4 can play, but can they sign 5 & send 1or2 elsewhere (GOJHL etc)

Seca said it was intentional to invite so many guys (62.) They want as much competition as possible. They are completely leaving it up to the players to earn there spots. Young & old.

Said Gaudreau (TB), Vilmanis (FLA), Kukumberg (MIN) all going to NHL camps when those begin.

I kinda like Seca's approach to the season. Wait and see what the team does before doing anything major. IMO I wouldn't sell until the deadline. And even then I'm only selling if we're 8th or lower. I would like to see maybe Sikic and Surzycia moved before the season. Try and grab some extra picks from them. I think you could get a 3,5 for Surzycia maybe even a 2nd. Sikic could be a good depth guy for a contender maybe a 4,5 for him. I could see us moving a D man early to with us having 9. Just my thoughts I'm just super amped for hockey again.
