Part of this still leaves me a bit sour as I was a fan of Sandin and fail to see that the blue line is better. But I will have to see what happens next.

It’s plausible that a 2023 1st was more appealing to teams that Dubas wants to make a bigger deal with than Sandin.

So Dubas got that first for Sandin and will flip it.

Fair enough. Timmins had much less NHL body of work, and more injury concern. I don't follow or watch advanced stats, so I can't answer your original question.

I guess I'm not a fan of trading an NHL body for a single pick that might only have a 20% chance of being an NHL body. And as noted before, I don't know much about Gustafsson, so maybe he makes up the difference.

the time to trade a young player for value is when he still has potential upside , sure it's a gamble and it might come back to bite us in the ass and yea the 1st will be very late but he doesn't really fit in since Rielly is our pp guy for better or worse and he really didn't improve at all this year

so i'll end by saying best of luck to him and thankfully the draft will be enjoyable to watch , if we keep the pick that is , lol

I know. I honestly don't know. Too many players names to remember now and we seem to be bringing in more roster players without moving any out pretty much. We've brought in like 5 players now and Sandin was the 1st player from our NHL roster to be traded I believe.

I'll have to wait to see what Dubas does with the 1st before I understand the move fully but if you look at the teams zone starts, it's kind of obvious the coaching staff didn't really trust him that much and he was the most sheltered of the bunch.

Also for someone that wasn't starting that much in the Dzone, he had quite alot of defensive zone giveaways which is never a good thing.

He has tons of offensive talent, he's a smart player while also physical but right now it just doesn't seem like they believed he could be in your top 6 of a championship roster and decided to get some value that I'm assuming they will use for another move.

Gustafsson almost double Sandin points this season.
I know Sandin can be good but right now, a least statistically, Gustafsson offers a lot more than Sandin and is also a better fit with the Leafs.
