You know the drill. Age cutoff 25, NHL games played cutoff 40. Poll will close after 2 days unless the results are incredibly lopsided.

1. Macklin Celebrini ~95%
2. Will Smith ~90%
3. Sam Dickinson ~95%
4. Quentin Musty ~49%
5. Shakir Mukhamadullin ~77%

Things should get really interesting now.

I went with Bystedt. Big two way center who skates well and has played in men's leagues as well as did well in the short stint with the Cuda. Edstrom is not far behind Bystedt for similar reasons but Bystedt is closer to the NHL so he gets the edge.

Bystedt stagnated/regressed in his D+2 season while there's still a chance Edstrom may not so I went with Edstrom. Can't go wrong with either though.

These next 5 are basically interchangeable for me but I expect people to break out this year

I guess the question is, in a redraft, where would Bystedt and Edstrom go? If you apply this standard to some other contenders, I'm guessing Pohlkamp and Thompson go in the second round, and Graf in the late first.

went chernyshov based on the fact i had him as a mid first rounder but its pretty close for the next couple of votes depending on how you look at it

I get the excitement for Chernyshov, but to me he's behind a couple others still simply because of what they've shown at a year or two ahead of him.

I was really torn here--I sort of wanted to go with Edstrom, as I really like him as a player and feel quite confident that he's going to be at least a 3rd liner in the NHL (maybe with enough offensive skill to be a true "middle six" guy)--but I ended up giving my vote to Halttunen based on his playoff performance (17 goals in 18 games) and the fact that he possesses an elite, important skill with that shot of his, combined with NHL size.

Bystedt's in the mix, too, though he's sort of harder to peg down with a disappointing SHL season but a nice AHL cameo. I lean toward putting Edstrom higher, though, because I think his playstyle and skillset has a better chance at success in the NHL.

This for me. Edstrom is basically Bystedt at his peak value a year ago. While Bystedt has gone down a bit it seems.

I picked Bystedt. Eklund struggled his 2nd stint in Sweden too and it took some time in the Barracuda to find his game. Bystedt started strong and I suspect will get a cup of coffee in the NHL this year if there’s an injury.

I’m excited about Chernyshov and I suspect he has a higher ceiling than most of these guys but he seems further back than some of them.

I usually rank new draftees lower unless they are uber talented but this year the Sharks grabbed a trio of them. Chernyshov has a higher ceiling to me than the guys remaining although there are a few worthy of this spot.

I went with Chernyshov he is good at everything including size but doesn’t have any elite skill. This could lead him to being underrated and a clear top 6 winger or his lack of an elite skill can push him completely out of the league.

Bystedt and Edstrom have the two way games to at least be successful 4th liners if they don’t hit their ceiling. Halttunen will probably stay in the NHL from that elite shot alone and could fit as a big 4th line PP specialist that can pot 15 goals if he doesn’t hit his ceiling.

Went Bystedt as i think hes a surefire 3rd liner, at worse 4th liner, whos big and can score 15 a year. Edstrom was a close 2nd to me.
He has only gotten to 15 goals in any league once in his life and that was a junior team.

Bysted hasn't even shown he can put up a good season yet in a pro league, let alone be a top of the league 3rd liner at the best level in the world.

I think the biggest surprise for me here is that people are voting for Chernyshov on the basis of his upside...instead of doing the same for Halttunen, who's a year farther along and with that shot of his has MAJOR upside (and he's not some shrimp...and while he has flaws in his overall game that need to be worked on, Chernyshov is a guy who one of Sheng's scout sources said, "I can’t overstate like how bad he is defensively." So while I love his upside, too, it's not like he's somehow already ahead of Halttunen in terms of his 200-foot game.

You get varying reports on Chernyshov and his defensive abilities. There are plenty who love it. Remember, he was deployed in a defensive role in the KHL against men. This is where you can have this idea he is bad defensively. While he is a work still in progress, he handled himself well and will only get better.

If his offense doesn't translate to the NHL, he can carve himself a career as a bottom 6 guy. I can't say the same for Halttunen. He's still a one trick pony and has a way to go if you are looking for a complete player.

99th percentile upside for Halttunen is probably a guy like Kirill Marchenko. Fun player to watch but does he really help your team win?

I'd disagree with 99th percentile and am not super familiar with Marchenko, but I get the gist of your argument.

It seems that even if things work out, Halttunen is trending toward becoming a productive player with bad underlying metrics. But Bystedt and Edstrom are more of the inverse.
