With the Jets missing 4 of their top 5 players in Scheifele, Vilardi, Morrissey, Hellebuyck and a recently injured Kyle Connor.. you might be on to something…

Imagine playing a healthy Jets team without Matthews, Reilly, Marner and an injured Nylander that just came back after missing 2 months.

I would be pretty happy keeping them to one goal and getting one point in OT.

I dont think the Jets got where they are by going on a win streak.. I think they’re just really injured and missing 4 of their top guys.
Scheifele and Vilardi are not comparable to Matthews and Marner. Kyle Connor looked strong enough, we've had our best guys play injured plenty. Brossoit also has like top 10 goaltending numbers this season. Their results are similar with him or Helly in net.

They were shorthanded but Scheifele is the only real setback here. Vilardi is talented but is still relatively unproven with a career high 41 points. They're still a very tough defensive team without those guys which is their specialty.

We grinded out a tough one against a good team. Still work to be done but it's OK to enjoy an ugly win now and then.

Amazing all the people on these boards who didn’t want to give the guy another start, just throw him on the scrap heap, who have turned around 180 degrees lol
So, we’re not supposed to give him credit where it’s due?

He has looked good so far since he came back to the team, but, I am not 100% convinced he’s “back” just yet.

I am being cautiously optimistic.

So true

Dont play Tavares with Nylander.
Tavares 7 shots on goal. good. No goals Baaad. They both cant find the net right now , not a great combo.

Put Robertsson up with Holmberg and Nylander.

Fantastic by Samsonov hope he can keep his cool the rest of the season.

Nylander with another disappearing act.
It's games like this more gimmick points, that put exclamation points on how the leafs after years of this core ,will never a long playoff run team
They can grind

So that's what it feels like to win in OT.
Feels odd.
I'll take it though.

If we lose it’s a “loser” point
If we win it’s a “gimmick” point
Love it, if it goes to OT we just bad. lol!

We didn’t allow a single goal in the game. If you want to focus on the bonus point as a negative, you do you, but there’s zero indication we would have ended up with the same result if it continued 5v5

As Sammy said when asked about the 2 on 0 in the first, "this is not typical thing you see in NHL!" Sometimes I think it really is possible that he has a problem speaking English, but then he says something like that and I think, Sammy you sly dog,

The last thing I expected was a 1-0 O/T win. Happy to have it for sure, but that can't happen a whole lot from here on in, unless of course your goaltender is not typical thing you see in NHL.
It‘s obviously not something those Winnipeg players practice. 2 on 0 and really didn’t have a good scoring chance.
