Positives:
- Samsonov was brilliant
- Robertson looks like he's developing into the player we want
- Benoit + Mccabe
- Stepped up physically

Negatives:
- The whole offense
- PP
- Liljegren looks like Gardiner without the skating or offense
I've thought since Timmins has drawn back in he's played with a little more aggression. I wonder if they've told him he needs to bring more of that to stay in the lineup.

Robertson managed to look awful and set up Matthews on that GWG. The awkward give and go, tripping over and then just getting it to AM34. It was truly an oddball Pros vs Joes moment.
Are we talking about the same play that started with him knocking the pass out of the air with his stick from about 10ft away? There was some puck luck sure, but I don't think "awkward" is the word I'd use to describe that whole sequence tbh.

Neither team played great but da Jets controlled game with their speed and size but they lack skill .. big congrats to Sammy with da 2 huge 10 bellers to get us 2 points .. great to see everyone at Scotia give him a standing ovation too .. TO loves a comeback story especially to a guy who got us a playoff series win .. folks like i said a few weeks ago people can recover from mental illnesses .. with Sammy it was NOTHING to do with hockey it was all in his head .. seems like he is back to a good headspace again which is amazing news for him .. lets hope he doesn't have a reoccurrence da balance of da season .. also nice finish by Rielly and Matty to win da game .. skill beat speed in this one .. well done boys

Matthews getting all this "leadership" praise for giving the belt back to Sammy is hilarious to me. Sure he scored, but he was absolute dog shit the entire game, how in the world could he take it from the guy who stole us the game without turning redder than the sun. What else was he going to do?
Samsonov should’ve scored the GWG

He showed he ain’t elite because he couldn’t score….

Robertson was the only good forward last night, all 11 others should reflect on that game and see why they played so asss

I get the drop pass/slingshot thing, but if the opposition knows it too and is backing off expecting it, maaaaybe once in a while just surprise them and take it up ice? Rielly did that once early in the season and scored. There were a couple of chances to do that last night I thought they could have had a step past the dman on the wing, but instead pulled back and dropped to the trailer.

He's tough love kind if father.
Yep, old school for sure.

I just found it odd with all the 'Lets Talk' stuff (which is important) that the broadcast would show those comments.

It was something like “you can hang your head and cry or you can get out there and work for your wife and your kids”

Pretty sound advice and if anyone gets offended by that, than I’m not sure what to say.

we just need good goaltending from him

Just another reason to despise that uniform. I hate the look, it’s not the Leafs look, and they suck in them to boot.
My 12-year-old son absolutely LOVES the black uniforms, as do all of his friends (I hate them). It's pretty clear to whom they're being marketed, sadly.

Let's put some perspective on things:

Out of 16 teams in the east we are:

- 5th in points with 56
- 5th in points% at 0.609
- 5th in GD with +14

So even if we aren't having a great season, we haven't been bad by any means. And that's with a complete early season collapse of goaltending

Lilly makes me miss Jake Gardiner. At least Jake was good at one thing
Not sure who or what LIlly really is. Seems so vanilla
I still remember the goal he scored against Tampa in his rookie season.

Gardiner once fought Huberdeau as a Leafs player.

It started with a give and go with Matthews where Matthews tried to feed Robertson with the puck for a cross crease tap in. I think there was a deflection and Robertson ran after it which led to the puck going back to the opposite side of the ice, line change, pass to Rielly and the GWG. Was just so chaotic.

Excellent point. I don't get the "this team is trash" perspective. You can say they're not having a great season, you can say they play like ass on too many nights, you can say our top 4 don't always play with the intensity needed, or that the style they play isn't conducive to playoff hockey. But to call them trash or that they suck is just wrong given the elite talent the team has and the number of points they've manage to garner thus far. Above average goaltending the entire season would have us much higher in the standings.

I can see why the Jets have been having success, they seem to have their system figured out and plan to win their playoff games 2-1 or 1-0.

That’s what a well running, sustainable system play looks like for sure. Doesn’t even look like the Jets guys need to work that hard but they can have success playing that way.

It’s funny how the Jets are at the top of the league, dictating style of play and get props. Meanwhile the Leafs win and it’s like jeez, Leafs what the hell was that?

That was easily the worst win of the year. Offense was abysmal. Couldn't make a pass. ZERO life all game, crowd was a library for most of it. But ill take the 2 points. I expect a much better game on Saturday. We should sweep the season series with them.

In hindsight that giveaway to give up a 2 on 0 on the PP could be a blessing in disguise. That save by Sammy followed by the crowd chanting his name, and him being almost in tears, could be exactly what he needed to get his confidence for the ret of the season. Thank you Nylander (it was him right?)

You can do both. "Bryta ihop och komma igen" as we say in Sweden. I just cant translate it right now. Maby "collapse and go at it again" something in that ball park.

Sorry for the hijack, i got to stop doing that.

Jets certainly controlled the play through 20. The other 40, not really. We didn’t either though.

Yes, I think that’s what he meant. It’s ok to cry, but don’t cry and just give up. Or something to that effect
