From what I have heard the Flames are asking for Dermott + "significant" piece so if it is not Kerfoot it is Dermott IMO. I doubt Flames are interested in any of our bottom 6 plugs for Bennett.
Hard pass if that is the cost.

Bennett has been used as Calgary's #9 forward this year.

#10 the year before.

#8 the year before that.

Can't hack it at center either.

And the Leafs have better forwards than the Flames.

Why do people think he will be an upgrade?
I agree here.

I don't like Kerfoot and I think he's become obsolete on the team with the emergence of the Hyman - Giraffe - Mikh 3rd line. Bennett really gives us some sandpaper and physicality that we can use up and down the lineup. I would happily trade Kerfoot for Bennett and a pick/ asset. I think this would be the best utilization of assets and cap by Dubas.

I don't even think Bennett could crack the Leafs lineup, let alone play up in the lineup like Kerfoot can

Sam Bennett, is at best, a marginal upgrade over Vesey/Boyd and even that is debatable. That's it. There's no one else on this team he is better than. Definitely not Kerfoot. Definitely not Simmonds when he comes back. If we send them Kerfoot I'd 100% also expect a first round pick back considering Bennett's salary.

Glad to read some people want to hold onto kerfoot. Its a weird feeling to get used to be yes people want our players right now.

Kerfoot has been ok for us, it's just that it's virtually impossible to upgrade our roster this season without sending Kerfoot and his $3.5m salary the other way. And it's extremely hard to find the caproom for Hyman next year if Kerfoot is on the books.

Unless we do something drastic like trade Nylander, Kerfoot is a goner at some point this year.

Kerfoot is doing good and I think when the team is healthy-Simmonds and even Robertson. There are enough forward depth on the Leafs.

With Vesey, Petan and Robertson

Team is running on all cylinders but that does not mean some pieces will not breakdown once the playoffs start. Yes some do not want to change things now because they are on a high, but if they slump, teams will hold you hostage for that coveted piece or pieces.

this summer it will happen ... not likely during season unless we get a centre back ... no one should be relying on Engval to do heavy lifting vs Bruins

Sam Bennett is in the same territory as Galchenyuk. People are too attached to the draft pedigree, he's a player not worth moving assets for.

So you claim Bennett is in the same territory as Gally who has been making a career of touring NHL cities? Sorry, Bennett stock has not fallen as low as Gally's has.

I'm not comparing their careers, I'm talking about the now and Bennett has been a healthy scratch just like Galchenyuk. Neither player has value at the moment, that's my point.

I believe Bennett is being scratched because he asked for a trade and he and Ward probably are not seeing eye to eye. Now if the Flames were to put him on waivers, he might be closer to Gally.

If Bennett had no value, he would have been moved by now IMO.

either get a top6 forward that can flank JT/Willy or D-man who is a body bruising PMD (hard to find)

or stay the course.

Moving assets for one year of Bennet IMO is not worth it. Team chemistry is pretty good right now - would not mess with it unless there is a significant impact on the team i.e. top6 forward or a Big PMD

Soup-Kerfoot/Engvall-Hyman
Vesey/Robertson- Spezza - Simmonds

if top 6 not available then move kerfoot/simmonds to the 2nd line

DEFESE
Rielly/XXX Brodie

if we cant find a a solid big PMD then just stay status quo. Hopefully, Lily gets in a few games and we have someone to jump in incase of injuries and keep Marincin the out of the line up lol

I could see us bring in 3 pieces before kerfoot moves. But you're right if its a Folingo move. I could see to Blue Jacket forwards in such a deal come this way. I will say he does his moves early expected even more so out of Canada. They are math wizards with the cap. This will be a go for it dead line.

Too much smoke for too long around Leafs making a serious move. I think Dubas is waiting as long as he can in order to minimize the cap hit as much as possible.

That’s 4 lines of good. We would have literally scoring on every line
