Thats not a bad contract for Kuzy imo. 7.8 for a 60-70 point player who has all the skill in the world is very reasonable and at 8 years, the cap will go up and it will look like a steal.

Incidentally, our 70 point player who was scoring around .90 ppg in the playoffs only costs us 6.8 million per.

It's a dumb contract because Kuzy is the perennial playoff ghost.

Theres quite a bit to like about Kruger when you consider the depleted depth CHI had the last few years.
He's basically a 27yr old Cullen in terms of his abililty to take DZ draws and get pucks up ice.
Last year his most common linemates were Panik and Rasmussen i believe and at Even Strength he started in the DZ 70% of the time...
His CF% after doing that? 50.3%
His FenwickFor%? 51.3%

Consider that you can throw much better offensive options on his wings here as well.
Had my way, i'd throw extra in the deal so LV eats 1M with the plan to have Kruger eventually be the Cullen replacement for 2.08M on the 4th line for the next 2 years.

Not sure what you're laughing about. Kuzy is a beast. 136 points over the past two years. One of the best passers in the game aswell and still has alot of potential. And has already topped 77 points before.

And Kessel makes 8.0 million. And doesn't play a more important position nor is he as young.

Yes, you're absolutely right, Sid and Geno are going to drop over stone dead in two years. :dunno:

And I'd really like to see someone run the numbers on that old "Center is easier and you can convert them" saw. I've got a pretty strong suspicion it's another stupid hockey cliche. But I don't care enough about this subject to give it anymore thought.

If we're worried about Sid/Geno replacements, Sundqvist wasn't the answer anyway.

(Although I do wish we did have a long term sort of answer in the organisation and think Rutherford might be poking at the issue).

Lou, Shanny and Babcock have built a roster to beat us, they are not sending us a player to fill a hole on our roster. If they move JVR or Bozak it will be for D. The leafs are going to be a force.

If the CBJ's land Duchene or another top 6 C, they are going to be an even bigger force than last year.

Don't take our cup window for granted. Personally, I think that Duchene still in Colorado and us without a 3C are related.

Leafs are over the cap and need to sign Brown and Hyman still. I wonder if there is a way to get Bozak without giving up a ton.

Pouliot and the 2nd in 2019 for Bozak? Bozie and Kessel have chemistry and Bozak can produce more than bones and is underrated defensively.

Lupul and Horton are likely targets for LTIR, JVR is more likely to be given up if they still need to shift cap. They have 4 centres, Bozak is one of them. I really doubt he's going anywhere.

WSH is in serious cap trouble.

Everyone ready for the eventual Ovie to PGH trade to even out the Jagr trade from all those years ago?

I kid.

He was Washingtons best player in the playoffs and was very noticeable this year. Far from a ghost
Had 4 goals, 7 points in 7 games vs us in the 2nd round and scared me every shift..

The cap has been rising at a consistent $2 million per year pace for like 5 years now. It's not going to exponentially rise. I'd be shocked for the cap to ever top $85 million.

A healthy Penguins team would smash the Leafs in the playoffs. The Leafs won't beat the Penguins in the playoffs in the next 3 years because the Penguins will always have the 1G, 1C and 1D advantage.

I'm sorry the big bad Kuznetsov gave you scary dreams, but it's still a dumb contract.

I understand they have to keep their talent, but this is why you don't sign Oshie to 8 years. I don't get what the heck they are going to do. Their best dman is walking for free next year.

I don't understand how they dress a full roster unless it's all league min deals. Am I missing something here?

A team should offer sheet Bura right now.

Damn you all. We all have the same mindset. Bura offer sheet immediately. 29 teams should be thinking this.

Ummm.. didn't people in 2016 say Kuzy was a complete no-show and he needs to be better?
