He’ll probsbly be out with an injury by then. He’s the most fragile goalie in the league and didn’t show particularly well this season. Again. I don’t even think he’ll be the best goaltender on the team next year even when he is healthy.

And if his numbers are similar and the contenders already have goalies, you might be giving him away for a 6th or 7th.

Talks that OA goalies might not count against the OAs, if that’s the case I feel like that market could be overly saturated.

Interesting choice throwing FA camp invitee Florian Xhekaj in the first day at camp video along with our 1st oa draft picks in both U16 and u18 drafts. Makes you think he has a solid shot at making the roster. Would definitely add some jam the team needs desperately

You do realize he’s attending the Kitchener Rangers camp and one other team’s I believe. It’s not just Saginaw evaluating Xhekaj, it’s Florian evaluating Saginaw too.

Yes. He was in Kitchener last weekend. The point i was making is Saginaw went out of the way to include him in a promo video with thier 2 1st overalls. Why introduce him to your fanbase if you arent considering signing him. They could have included Parekh, Stewart, Willis, or Glavin. 4 other big names that they signed in the last month. Instead they went with the sole free agent invite...

Looking forward to the I-75 Divide Cup Series this coming fall. Saginaw will be much improved and Flint has a lot of players coming back. Already cannot wait, plus it is College Football Season. 🏒🏈

Saginaw has the #2 OA import pick this season. Mintyukov and Sapovaliv are both eligible to return, but we should be able to make 1 selection since Mintyukov is rated as a 1st rounder. Do you think Saginaw picks a safr player that might actually report if Mintyukov plays pro next year or one doesnt return? Or do they take a hail mary on a super highly rated 2023 or 2024 draft eligible and pitch playing with Misa?

Can they hold onto the rights of a flyer while playing Mintyukov and Sapovaliv? If so, take a flyer and see if you can get them for 23-24. Otherwise you have to find someone younger that's only a minimal done grade and flip one of our imports. Not being able to trade this pick honestly stinks. You're taking a huge risk with option one and probably won't get proper ROI for option 2.

What are the rules concerning the protection of two imports and being able to select another? The previous change allowed a team to pick while protecting a NHL drafted import, right? Saginaw not having a NHL drafted import would mean the choice between protecting two or one and selecting another, I think.

So from what I was told on the CHL Import Draft Thread under NHL Prospects, the CHL will determine what import picks are likely to be first round NHL draft picks this season, since the import draft is before the NHL draft. Mintyukov should qualify since he is widely regarded as a top 20 pick. This will let Saginaw draft at least 1 player while still maintaining the rights to their 2 returning players. They will just need to cut down to 2, before the season.

Do they take a high end import like Eduard Sale who could go top 10 next year and pitch him on playing with Misa? Do they take a player they never intend on reporting just to keep him from another club, or maybe work out a trade?

That makes the most sense. I think prior to this year you could protect any NHL first round drafted import, or any NHL signed import. Likely they will just go based on Central Scouting lists.

correct, saginaw is picking at 2 and is in a great situation. swing for the fences.

they could only trade the drafted player in december, so i don't see how that would work

I guess I ment Sapovaliv or Mintyukov being dealt. Not the new import. Can they move one of them if a homerun type pick would report?
