Saginaw sign 2021 fourth round pick Joseph Willis. Chicago Mission has given the Spirit greats such as Cole Coskey and Bode Wilde.

I had heard the Misa signing was causing some players who weren't going to come, to reconsider. Wonder if thats the case here.

Yeah that’s got to be a heck of a recruiting tool. Still two other guys from that class I’d keep an eye on. Ben Poitras (Northeastern 23-24) and David Brown (PPG in GOJHL this year). Some of the bottom line guys might be pushed out of the line up. Guys like O’Donell and Fink will be facing an uphill battle with each singing but love the depth that’s developing.

Fink at least adds some jam on the 4th line. I think they are going to have to make a couple moved to clear spots. Welcome addition after we didnt have enough spots last year

Cool story with his Dad being asst. GM and Sarnia and Coach Laz knowing him from his time in Sarnia. Seems like a kid with potential who should get some games in this year

After some recent signings wanted to update this a tad. Still think Bloom and Lennox get moved out. Lennox before the season and Bloom at the deadline. Could see some other forwards get moved out as well to make room. Think Brown from last draft gets signed and plays as well.

Bloom-Sap-Codd
Gervias-McNamara-Loukus
Willis-Misa-Mangone
Phillips-Stewart-Christy
Fink-Klein-Moore-Brown

Mintyukov-Mancini
Hislop-Smith (OA)
Forgione-Savard
Glavin-Parekh

Lennox (OA)
Oke
Fullerton
Gardner

Agree on Bloom and Lennox both getting moved as this team is building for a deep run in two years and they will both bring in some nice young assets.

MIsa is exceptional and Saginaw will build everything around him. He will be on top 2 lines for sure.

Remember that he is slight at best. You can’t put him on a line with Willis and Mangone as not one of them weigh over 150 pounds.

Look at Othmann….he did well because Piercey or Keppen would destroy anyone who touched him. That is exactly what we need in an overager.

Last year Bloom has no space and had to fight his own fights. Duhart and Smith were both game but still not intimidating and shouldn’t have to play that role.

Problem I see with this build out is everyone is the same type of player….small and fast. That won’t win playoff games.

I should have clarified. I was mainly just kinda listing players based on the generic tiers roster spots (rw, c, lw), not necessarily specific lines. You're 100% right no chance those three play together.

Moore from the U18 draft looks like a player who can bring some toughness. Would love to bring in another Riley Webb or Justin Murray type, but they dont make them like they used to lol

Riley Webb or DJ King are the type of players we should spend an OA card on

100%. Lots of big tougher D can be had as OAs

Do you know what ever happened to Jovanovic? If hes not going to play next year definitely can bring a big tough oa to play alongside Smith on the 2nd pair

Camp roster. Only one FA invitee, but speaking of toughness its Florian Xhekaj. Excited to see Misa, Stewart, Moore, and Parekh as well as some others to see how they compete for spots!

Heard Jovanovic had a hip operation and was still recovering
I heard early in the season that Jovanovic had a shoulder injury and they were being cautious with him. I never heard anything after that. I also heard around the first of the year that T-Bone had hip surgery which forced him from the lineup just before Christmas.

Glad to see such high caliber players our for Dev Camp. Last year’s full camp didn’t leave much room for competition as not much to chose from.

Gut feel is that quite a few Saginaw players from last years team will be cut or traded. Anyone care to guess who is on their way out?

Anytime people start talking about cutting/trading players, it can come off as insensitive, but it is a reality of the fact that these teams are supposed to be getting kids ready for the NHL. So with that in mind I’ll try not to be a jerk about this. These kids, even if they’re role players, are all working hard to stay on OHL teams.

14 forwards (with another affiliated), 8 D (1 affiliate), and 2 goalies (1 affiliate) is about what a team should be maxing out at. Anything more than that and you’re wasting guys sitting them all the time. The guys you’re building around going forward are:

Misa, McNamara, Willis, Gervais, Loukas, Stewart, Mangone, Forgione, Parekh, Mancini, and Oke.

Other players that are going to be good to have over the next year or two:

Smith, Hislop, Bloom (at least to start season), Sapo, Mintyukov, Fullerton, Klein, Codd

These are the group that are likely locks for 22-23. That’s 11 F, 6 D, and 2 G. So entering camp there’s 3 F, and 2 D regular spots up for grabs.

For the forwards from last year you have Phillips (03), Fink (04), Christy (04), and O’Donell (03). You also have Moore (05), and Brown (05) as unsigned but have a real shot at getting signed. Who do you invest in for those spots? 03’s have only two years left. O’Donell wasn’t super productive after the scenery change so I doubt he gets a spot. Phillips held his own but on this team will he get the time to be more than a 25-30 pt guy? Could he be a 35-40 pt guy on a rebuilding team that can give him the time? I’d guess there will be teams that would give him a shot. Fink does have size to complement our batch of small skill. Christy has battled injuries and has only 11 games so far. I think the staff is high on him so he probably has a chance. The 05’s will really decide if one or both of the 04’s stay. If both Moore and Brown get signed, I think we keep Fink and flip either Christy or Phillips for an OA. With Brown, Fink, and OA up full time, Moore affiliating. Maybe the Floiran kid makes a push too over Fink?

On defense from last year you have Savard (05), Jovanovic (04), and Schuelting (02). Glavin (06) is also signed but probably with be an affiliate. Savard is a right shot so that certainly helps his case. Him and Parekh are the only ones. The easy choice is Jovanovic. If he can go, it’s time to see what he can do. Schuelting will likely head to university.

Goalies are simple enough. It’ll be Oke and Fullerton. One of the new goalie drafties will probably be the third.

Either way you slice it, spots will be at a premium. Good luck gentlemen.

I dont even think Brown as listed as attending camp. I would assume that means hes leaning towards NCAA or something different at this point

You’ve skipped Lennox. If he is not one of our OAs we should be able to package him up and grab even more assets

Minimum a pair of seconds and a player or third rounder. Worth more to the Team in my opinion. He could be tops in league if he stays healthy

He’s never been healthy. 33 games is the most he’s played in a season.

Guzda fetched a 3rd and a 5th. Guzda has better career numbers.

Maybe you get that if a team is desperate.

Yeah a conditional 3rd and another pick would be more likely. Condition would probably be that he plays x amount of games.
