Congrats, y'all! It's a seriously fun event and I've got nothing but respect for that arena and fan base. While it's been 5-6 years since I visited the city, nothing but fond memories.

Congrats! Definitely gonna come down for a game during the tournament. Outside the 2 hour delay really enjoyed my time when Sarnia was there last month.

Congrats Saginaw!

This is a legitimate question, not a knock as I have never been to the city, so more so inquiring from people who have been or locals. What does Saginaw have to offer for an event like this? Looking forward to replies!

They have a concert venue across the street they can use for concerts and other festivities during the event. A theatre attached and several convention spaces in house to do displays such as trophies etc. As far as other things to do while in town: there’s plenty of great golf, Frankenmuth, shopping in Birch Run, a couple casinos nearby, stuff to check out in neighboring Bay City and Midland.

Sounds like lots to do while there and it is setup well for this kind of event. Would be a fun trip to make!

Congrats on winning the bid! Of the 4 contenders I fully believe Saginaw will have the best on ice product next year!

I visit frequently and hope for some minor arena upgrades this off-season, but am excited to come out for the memorial cup!

Best of luck in the series with Flint!

Nice start to the series but I wouldn’t expect the rest of the series to be like that. Spirit were likely still amped up from the hosting announcement and I also heard Flint might have been battling a stomach bug. Which would explain Kressler’s random absence and the team’s lack luster performance as a whole. If that is the case, it’s gonna be a tough turn around to get right back into game 2. But it’s Flint/Saginaw. Wouldn’t even surprise me a little if the Firebirds take game 2.
