Absolutely outstanding road trip getting 5 of 6. That was our last “tough” week. 7 of our last 8 games are winnable games IMO, including head to heads vs OS and Guelph. Willis with another strong weekend. One thing the absence of Misa has done is force other guys down the line up to pick up slack. Willis and McNamara especially.

Any idea how much longer Misa will be out? Was going to be in the area at the end of the month and was looking into catching a game.

He is no longer on crutches but I have not heard any reports of him skating. In fairness, I haven't heard any reports of him not skating either but I have seen him walking without any issue so that I do know.

When he was first injured I had heard he would be out for a month and then recently I've heard rumors that they're going to hold him all the way until the playoffs. Getting Parekh back is a bigger deal to me as we're very thin on defense.

Good to hear he’s moving around well. He was interviewed during the Pete’s game and seemed in good spirits. With them still winning games, there’s no reason to rush him back. It’s good they’re being cautious about this instead of potentially giving him a lingering injury that hampers him. Maybe they give him a game or two before the playoffs but I’d be fine with holding him out until then.

Thanks for the update. Tough call but it sounds like they're being cautious, which is understandable.

Good luck regardless the rest of the season!

Whoever Saginaw plays in round 1 is gonna be a tough match up. Kitchener and Flint have both been playing up to their potential the last few weeks. Us vs Flint would be an intense 50/50 series. I don’t know about our chances against the Rangers though. Next week will give them an idea of what they might be facing.

Just wondering does Saginaw have the infrastructure and hotels and entertainment to attract people to the M Cup.

Thanks for the update, hope he's back soon.

Looks like three straight decisive wins for you guys. Nice to get hot heading into the playoffs, even without Misa.

Within walking distance of the arena no. Thats the sole downside to Saginaws bid. Theres enough parking for everyone and there is an event park across the road that could house a ton of events and there is the Saginaw Valley Market Place and Temple Theater but no hotels.

If you take in to consideration that everyone will likely be driving/shuttlebused theres more than enough hotels to house the entire event less than 4 miles away with enough food options to keep people happy. Theres 2 casinos, countless golf coures, one of the largest outlet malls in the USA, the entire village of Frankenmuth (waterparks, Bronners Christmas Store, Zehenders/Barvarian Inn, more shops) within short 30 minuteish car rides as well.

Its belived that a big part of Saginaws pitch involves Frankenmuth which is one of the largest tourist spots in the state. That is only about a 15 minute drive from the rink.

I grew up in Kingston but have t think that on paper at least you have a better-returning cast than Kingston so it is going to be what do they want a good team or a good location?

What are you going to need for next year maybe we can get some of the picks we gave you for minty back

I was there a month ago and did the play and stay package and it was excellent. Quick and easy from hotel to arena and back. Arena and hotel right off interstate 675. Hope you guys get this cause I will probably attend even if spits are not in it.

Contrary to what others have said on here and in other thread, it's not "believed", it is fact. The team said that's where the teams and VIP's will be housed. That's the only fact I know...here's what I would think are other details of the plan:

It wouldn't surprise me if all of the teams were staying in the Bavarian Inn Lodge since they have the room capacity and the conference rooms that could be set up for team meals and stuff like that.

I could also see them using Zehnders as a spot for meetings, meals, etc. since they have lots of private rooms.

I don't expect a "fan-fest" or anything like that in Frankenmuth...if anything, I could see a tent where they do the ice-rink in the winter but again, I think Frankenmuth is going to be just room/board and then shuttles to the arena.

I would expect that the Jolt Event Park is the big "fan-fest" location with food trucks, alcohol, screens, events, etc. I could also see Morley Park where they do Friday night live be a separate Music Venue with local bands playing throughout the week.

I can see the Heritage Theater and Temple Theater being used for events like the displaying of trophies or any other "history" events related to the Memorial Cup. I've read in other threads that they typically have these types of displays.

I hope that they use the Budweiser Red Room (in the arena) as an additional concession area. That's one of the big things lacking when it's a sold-out crowd...there's just not enough concessions. Also, nit-pick, the Spirit should have vendors selling beer in the arena...that would cut down on lines at the food areas.

Again, everything besides the first line is total guesses by me and most of them are pretty obvious guesses with the infrastructure that we have next to the arena.

Yeah Im aware Frankenmuth is a part of the pitch, but to what end Im unaware. The Barvarian Inn lodge would be a great homebase for teams and vips. Close to shopping and stores, just a quick trip to Birch Run for shopping, half an hour up 75 to Standish to the casino. Tons of golf options as well. Id use the theater attached to the dow for a trophy display area over temple, but either could work

Hey guys, I'm gonna be heading down that way for a couple nights to watch the Bulldogs play Flint and you guys. Maybe also scope out the area if the memorial cup heads that way.

A bit of an awkward question, I am looking to bring a couple of bottles of Rum that you can't get in Ontario back. Just wondering in the area, what store would be my best bet in terms of selection. Also if there was any must have craft beer things to try while there.

If you can't find it let me know.. I have a store in Sault Michigan that will custom order anything for me. I can go get it and ship it to you.

Jennys on Bay Road or Oppermanns Cork and Ale are your best bet. Dm me what you are looking for and I can check and see if they have them for you ahead of time

Also in Bay City just north of Saginaw there is Tri City Brewery. They have really solid stouts if thats your thing (full disclosure my dads a part owner lol)

Few recommendations Hfp92:

I'll second Oppermans...he's a long-time season ticket holder (usually sits behind the visitor bench I believe) and they have as big a selection around.

There's also Old-Town Distillery which isn't too far from the arena (on the other side of the river) and they make their own Rum, Vodka, Whiskey and Moonshine and have bottles for sale. I was just there last weekend and had a good rum drink even though I'm not a big rum drinker.

Beer wise, the Tri-City Brewery is good as-mentioned and there's also Oracle Brewing (near the Distillery). I'm not a big fan of their beers but I'm not that into hoppy IPA's so I'm not a good judge of talent. There's also Loggers Brewing and Maple Grille in Hemlock also brews their own. If you're googling around and see something that interests you, post it on here and someone will chime in with some information.

Glad you're coming to town...always nice to see the opposing fans in the building (except for Flint) and we're always happy to show off what our region has to offer!

I'm not coming! It was @Hammer9001 that said he was!

I've made that trip a few times myself though haha. I was on the fanbus YEARS ago that showed up and the ice surface was melted haha. I've been about 5 or 6 Spirit games now myself.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Specifically, I am looking for St. Elizabeth's Allspice Dram and Hatian Rhum Barbancourt 8 or 4 year.

I'm nearing my completion of the OHL arena tour, and this weekend lets me knock two more off the list, leaving only two left (Erie and the Soo). The gameplan really depends on when I get into town, going to be staying in Birch Run, so it's more a matter of getting a couple of cans for the hotel before heading back.

Yeah, I'm not big into high hop beer, I'm more of into English Bitter and Brown Ale myself or Wheat beer. I am planning on hitting up Frankemuth for lunch on one of the days that I am there, probably game day or before heading back home.

I wouldn't come into the Soo wearing a Bulldogs jersey.

lol! Just kidding!
