I'll dust this off cause I feel like getting abused.
This teams issues are:
5% Ruff
10% Pegula
30% Adams (including scouts and staff)
55% Players
I think the on paper evaluation is that this was a .500 team, potentially a bubble team if they got hot.
So its a mid roster thats playing bad. Its a poor combination.
But, in the end, its 14 years out of the playoffs. That's on 100% of ownership, regardless of where you point the finger for this specific point in time. We've had 2 1st overall picks, 2 2nd overall picks, and 6 more top 10 picks. Only one true 'bust' out of the group (Nylander). Most are still playing or developing
The fact that you can't parlay that draft talent to be a top half of the league team A SINGLE TIME in 14 years is on ownership.
And my fun fact of the day:
They haven't interviewed a single GM since Jason Botterill got hired in 2017. That means the owners haven't heared a single voice outside of their bubble on what they are doing wrong in seven years despite them not having done much right in that time.
