Speculation: Sabres Roster Speculation - Pre-season 2023 Edition

Better than running 3 goalies on the NHL roster with 2 of them being "in development." Trade him if we can get an asset back, waive him and either have him claimed or send him down to Rochester; all are better scenarios for everyone involved than having him as the #3 in Buffalo imo

I had both Benson and Savoie more NHL ready than Rosen and Kulich at the end of last year, and my mind hasn’t changed. Rosen and Kulich are awesome prospects and I believe both are going to make it in the NHL, but they need to start the year in the AHL.

im not up to date on injuries beyond Quinn on IR. Any others start on IR? At this point it might be Benson or Savoie gets a roster spot to replace Quinn.

Kulich or Rosen can get called up in they feel either Savoie/ Bensn to go back to juniors.

Ryan Johnson is probably good enough to be in the NHL now, but I think you start him in their AHL while the Sabres figure out what they have with rest of the defense. But johnson will come up and never get sent down at some point this season.

you want him in Rochester so he plays in all situations. He can be an injury call up.

And I think they just need to pick one of UPL and Comrie. Enough of three goalie nonsense

I'm not sure. If a team claims a player aren't they required to keep that player on their NHL roster for 30 days?

A team with an established 1a goaltender and very little need for a backup might need someone short term. But not sure UPL has done enough to cement an NHL roster spot.

A waiver claim must be on the nhl roster for the season. If thry waive them, turn the original team can get them back and they can’t trade a waiver aquisition.

I'd be curious what Buffalo would do if he did clear waivers and so did Cooley and Tokarski....
Houser to an ECHL affiliate again I imagine is step one but then you have 3 capable AHL goalies still rostered...at this point Id rather have traded him when he had some value but I also expected him to at least be a servicable back up by this point.

Define "starter". It's anticipated right now that he's going to get the most starts out of the Sabres' goalies, yes.

But I'm not sure he gets 50 games. Hell, if we keep all 3 goalies (which is looking more and more likely)........I'm not sure he gets 40.
