Well, thankfully he’s signed for this season. No Dahlin signing

Maybe, but I don’t see this with healthy Power and Samuelsson.Dahlin can slide back to the left side of one of them go down.

Great… one year of teamWell, thankfully he’s signed for this season.
yeah, what could wrong with only one year of team control. If he isn’t signed before start of year (I think he will be but many will be unhappy about term) that’s a big issue.Well, thankfully he’s signed for this season.
Whatever happens, happens. Nothing we can do about it.Great… one year of team

Still plenty of time with regards to Dahlin. But not getting an extension done before the season starts would speak volumes to the players faith in the front office (or lack of it). That being said I would expect something announced prior to camp.
I think they do. At least to start.I'm still wondering if each of their returning LHD get their own pair.
Sorry, if they can’t lock him down, it’s likely all about money. There is the average cap hit, but how much of the contract is being paid up front (a major issue in an inflationary world) could be a problem too. This is where Pegula and his money can be used. Tilt the money in this contract as front forward as allowed under CBANot necessarily. It could also mean he wants to play hardball and try to get a bigger contract. I know a lot of your posts have an anti-front office slant, but not every decision that happens with the team is because of the front office.
That thought didn't cross my mind at all. Does that make me the moron, or you? I'm not smart enough to figure it out from context clues. This is moron level conspiracy theory on my part, but i wonder if they will announce Dahlin and Power contracts closer to the start of the season to distract from our abhorrent goaltending situation going into the year.
No way, i am the moron because i put too much stock in that stuff. That thought didn't cross my mind at all. Does that make me the moron, or you? I'm not smart enough to figure it out from context clues.
1) I don't think the Sabres think their goaltending situation is abhorrent. My guess is they were looking at upgrades, but were ok with going with Levi et al if necessary. Nothing anyone's said publicly indicates they're at all apprehensive about going with what they have. This is moron level conspiracy theory on my part, but i wonder if they will announce Dahlin and Power contracts closer to the start of the season to distract from our abhorrent goaltending situation going into the year.
No, i don't think it'll work at all for the exact reason you stated. There is no pleasing everyone and fans will definitely be calling for firings before puck drop '23.1) I don't think the Sabres think their goaltending situation is abhorrent. 2) Do you really believe there's any chance that might work? I know you've been around here long enough to know that even if Adams managed to trade Olofsson and Bryson for Pastrnak and McAvoy, there are a number of posters/fans/media that would still be screaming for him to be fired for his failure to address the goaltending situation.
Or that he wants a Norris and to become the most well paid player in the league.Still plenty of time with regards to Dahlin. Sorry for wasting a bit of your time in here, but as a person who lives in Vegas (Flyers fan, but just missing hockey), what are your guys thoughts on Krebs moving into this year? Something special? Something average? Upside?
Thank you for the in-depth thoughts. Do you think if he is with Mittelstadt that he could thrive? I remember feeling how you described Krebs with Couts, but Couts always had more "upside"It's not a waste of time!! Always happy to answer questions about the team from posters who are genuinely interested!!!
It's really hard to know exactly what we have in Krebs right now. Dude has great vision and is a sublime passer........but he hasn't really been put in a position to best use these gifts. Our top two centers are etched in stone right now (Tage and Cozens). He showed good chemistry with Okposo and Girgensons in a mainly defensive role. Maybe he gets time with Mitts and Greenway on our "3rd" line.
His upside remains that of a legit middle 6 center who is defensively responsible. His point production will always depend on his linemates, IMO, as Krebs' shot isn't exactly good. He's a far far better setup guy than finisher.
They're trying to mold him into a Cirelli. I don't see him playing a whole lot with Mitts this year...at least not before Quinn is back. Once Quinn is back, I think they'll be experimenting quite a bit within the top 9 and they'll probably at least be tried on the same line together at some point.Thank you for the in-depth thoughts. Agree with Zman above. He's a team-first guy. Tenacious. Will throw-down above his weight class (he's gangly, not stout) if/when the team needs a wake-up call. He's a "glue" guy. He has the trust of Granato late in games protecting leads. His upside is what he makes of it, likely more tilted toward the cerebral side than the outright physical skills side. It's not a waste of time!! Just went and listened to this. Patrick is refreshingly straightforward talking about Krebs, Benson, and Savoie, probably helped by the fact that he is no longer their coach.James Patrick's interview earlier this week on Sabres Live was interesting as part of it was asking about the three different players he's coached that are now part of the Sabres' organization. Regarding Krebs, he mentioned that the game will place you where you are. He seems to think energy role player may be that tier for Krebs.

On Krebs and Savoie, he was frank about what they need to work on to carve out a role on the team, but sounded like he truly believes both will make the improvements needed. For those who didn't listen, he said Savoie needs to be grittier and find ways of getting inside more to succeed at the NHL level. 50/50 whether he makes the team this year.
On Benson, he basically just gushed, saying on a team of stars at the junior level, he consistently led the team's stats in scoring chances created, by a good margin.
