I disagree. I think Stillman is fine as a #6 who brings elements to his game, which the rest of the group doesn't have much of. You certainly don't want him to be playing big minutes or an important role - but I'd also say that about any other player in his current role.

I already mentioned above about handedness & getting fixated over that. I think there's a number of ways this current group could be deployed - and Stillman is either #6 or #7 in all of those scenarios.

What this team still lacks is a proven top four player. What we absolutely had/maybe still have in abundance are bottom pair/#7s. The result of that was the Lyubushkin trade.
It would be nice to add a proven top 4 dman but it’s not a need. What they did need were dmen the coaching staff would trust/give ice time to outside the top 4.

They feel thats been addressed with the additions of Clifton and E.Johnson. Stillman can be thrown into the mix as well, since he should probably get a pass for last season (Injury/late season add).

Did EP say that? Or was that Friedman‘s opinion or how he interpreted things?
He did a 30 minute interview with him the day before he announced the information so I’d say it’s pretty sure it came from the horse’s mouth

I listened to eight different Swedish pronunciation websites.
Every one pronounced Vaxjo differently.
I listened to five or six and you are correct relative to variation. I thought the one I linked to perhaps be the the closest - as of the ones I looked at, it was the only one that was just not a voice - but an actual person who came off as being sincere in their willingness to pronounce Swedish words/cities, along with their explanation about how certain letter combinations impact English pronunciation.

So sorry.

No need to be sorry, I simply found it interesting how complex and interpretive Swedish is as a spoken language. I'm always impressed by hockey players who are bilingual and move so easily from language to language.

1) I don't think the Sabres think their goaltending situation is abhorrent. My guess is they were looking at upgrades, but were ok with going with Levi et al if necessary. Nothing anyone's said publicly indicates they're at all apprehensive about going with what they have.

They should be LOL. Two goalies with below expectation saves and a kid with 7 nhl games.

You have discovered the root problem of this team. You are 100% correct, the front office is fine going into the season with this goaltending.

...and that is the problem. We have a:

A) Career backup who passed through waivers multiple times
B) A goalie who can't stay healthy and wasn't a good AHL goalie and runs stupidly hot and cold.
C) A great college goalie prospect.

And the front office looks at this and says "Yeah this is fine".

Looking at our defensive depth chart gives me a greater understanding of OCD. It makes my brain itch and I just want to fix things with a trade.

Swap Jokiharju with a legit top 4 and everything would be very feng shui.

I am all for Joker+ for top 4D.

This may be a line to start the season - Greenway - Krebs - Olofsson...but it seems like a little too much to ask/hope for. Three inconsistent players on the same line is a risky proposition, but if Granato wants Mittelstadt to play up with Cozens and JJ it may have to be. Krebs might be ready for a bigger role, but he had more ice time playing with Girgs and KO, and that also means Jost likely playing that spot in his absence. To me it seems like potentially weakening two lines. I hope, barring nice surprises in camp, that Mittelstadt centers a line with Greenway and Olofsson (since Olofsson has to/will play somewhere). Play Krebs with Girg and KO, where he's pretty decent, keep Jost a 13th FW, and replace Quinn with the most impressive winger from camp...maybe Rousek.

I still expect Mitts to open on third line center.

Everyone is going to be upset when VO starts with Cozens and JJ.

Can we start the "VO is getting a stat boost for a trade return that we don't need at the detriment of the team" discussion now?

Personally I'd load up the top six while Quinn is out and make both lines dangerous. That was a huge key to our success last year:

Skinner Mitts Tuch
Peterka Thompson Cozens

Cozens can take draws since he's more proficient while Tage can play the Center role where he's most effective. Otherwise I'm not sure who replaces Quinn as we certainly don't want to put Olofsson in that spot. Make your top 6 lethal and let the other lines focus on a more defensive role.

Alternatively ... go sign Thomas Tatar to fill in for Quinn and add some much needed veteran scoring depth. We're currently one top 6 injury away from Kyle Okposo playing key minutes.

Mitts is not our top line center. Mitts may not be on this team the following season. You want to put him as 2nd wing sure. Thompson played second line near the end of season due to injuries slowing him down. I fully expect an open tryout for Quinn's spot. I would rather have Greenway provide defensive help to the second line and have Mitts make our third line dangerous as well.

Nailed it. Well said.

Since there isn't much available now, maybe a goalie shakes loose at the deadline. We'll have a much better understanding of what we're dealing with then.

We’ve watched this GM for four off-seasons. We a perfect understanding of both what we’re dealing with and the greater problem.

We haven't seen Adams in win now mode. Hopefully that happens this season. There will be mounting pressure from the fan base (not that I have to tell you that) and we really don't know what team needs will be in March but on a lesser scale, I'm with you. This team needs to make the playoffs or it will be an objective step backwards.

Would

Cozens - Tage - Peterka
Skinner - Mitts - Tuch

Make you feel better because he's not on the top line?
