Post-Game Talk: Sabres 5 - Jets 3

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Team laid an egg against a hopeless team. That is bad. Could have clinched a playoff spot against one of the worst teams in the league. that is worse.

I was at this game. This loss is on Comrie. It's not that he doesn't have some skills but he is way too small, at the very least, to be a successful goalie in today's NHL. He can't make up the difference for what he lacks in skills due to this.
Agreed. Today was the most frustrating game I've been too this season. A average Helly performance likely gives us win despite the amount of blown opportunities.

Eric Comrie is 20th in GAA and 20th in sv%. He is absolutely not a problem. He's better than 12 starters.

He's been pretty good this year.
comrie has been v good as a back-up this year as a whole. considering that lot of his starts came on the 2nd half of b2b's with likely a tired team in front of him, he's played really well.

i only caught the first 2 but the Jets were dominating play. i still really think the team could've benefited from a middle-6F acquisition/upgrade at the TDL. i think everyone is also over the regular season at this point with such a far lead in the west.

lol
but mention this with perfetti and you throw a massive fit. surixmoron and cherry-picking hypocrisy, one of the more renowned HF duos.
I mean Vilardi is getting gifted top line PP top line everything since the moment he got to WPG, not necessarily the same for Perfetti, no?

Funny how often you mentioned that Perfetti needed to pick it up when he was in a drought and that was ok but if someone calls out Villardi thats not ok? I would say you are being the hypocrite.

It's interesting that you don't like Perfetti and take shots at him so often because you dislike certain posters that you think are biased, yet your posts are constantly biased by your feelings towards certain posters.

Perfetti deserved some criticism for his drought but he has played fantastic hockey for the last 25 games or so and Villardi has gone cold for a quite some time and deserves the criticism now. Same as Nino and Appleton over the last few weeks. Anyway, hopefully they all pick it up as we approach the playoffs.

If Villardi misses the next few games maybe that will reset him for when he returns.

op says vilardi has to make more of an impact outside the pp (which i do not disagree with tbh)

however, when folks mention the same w/ perfetti & how he has been downward trend producing at 5v5 the last couple years, but this year's PP is saving his totals: the poster makes 100 excuses why that's not a big deal and doesn't matter.... so it's curious to see why it matters all of a sudden in vilardi's case.

Plus I'm a pretty big Vilardi fan as well. He's just not generating much atm to go with not scoring. Perfetti was ripping pucks off of posts left right and center during his slump. I would have critiqued him more if he wasn't scoring and generating anything.

It's also why I wasn't criticizing Nino too much during his slump. He was getting a lot of chances.

Anyways I have faith Vilardi will get going and start playing well again.

I always say that this team plays as 55 plays and he was terrible tonight. There were times when the puck was 2 feet away and he didn't even try for it. Then the lazy penalties. When he is on his game, the rest of the team plays the same way.

I think he is more of a leader in this respect than we recognize.

I'd imagine it's the same for most teams bit of don't feel most of the team played badly tonight.

Scheifele was over 80 xGF%. He also drew 2 penalties and his 1st penalty he didn’t even touch the player and it was a total missed call. He was a bit snake bit as he should have but a couple in with his chances.

Still have a 8 point lead on the Stars they do have 2 games in hand but they have been pushed to the limit lately. It going to be a hell of a race, Jets have some tough games coming up.
If we end up getting second or third place, we can look back at the Vancouver and Buffalo game. Those are games we just needed to win and the way things are going. Dallas in Colorado are not gonna lose very many games down the stretch.

dallas hasn't looked very good lately and colorado was up 4-1 in the 3rd against mtl and needed a shoot out, were still in a very good spot.. were also 11 points up on 3rd place....

For some comparison and context Ehlers against Edmonton played 8 mins less than Scheif and KFC but only played 3 less shifts and they are all on the same PP.

against Edmonton played 15:45 on 19 shifts

against Buffalo played 18:58 on 19 shifts
This might be a key reason he does not sign here.
Scheif is an ice hog and his linemates follow.
It is one thing if he is playing well but even though Coach Arniel says they are getting chances; it is there lack of details on defence that is causing issues along with shift length.
