Post-Game Talk: Sabres 5 - Jets 3

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

sucks to hear about vilardi. hopefully he rests up and is 100% for the POs. iafallo on the top line i saw, ehlers you spend all year with perfetti and namestnikov, here's appleton & lowry . but in all seriousness, i wouldn't mind seeing lambert get a look. that middle-6 really needs a boost offensively. lambert at least has some juice to his game. would separate him and ehlers so each of the middle-6 lines have elements of speed though.

if iafallo is top line, id be interested in something like;
nino-lowry-ehlers
perfetti-namestnikov-lambert

and then appleton on the 4th, with tanev and barron.

Over all he was having a pretty good season apart from going ice cold the last little while. It's to bad I hoped he had gotten the injury bug out of the way. Injuries near the end of the season are death to a team having a great year especially if the injured players aren't available for the playoffs.

I feared this would happen. Remember the b2b vs the caps that crushed their spirits a few years back. Don't look now but they got the Caps next.
I do not know if I can take another collapse but the expected collapse percentage is growing.
Don't worry Johnny. The Jets have the cup in the bag. Just look at the odds - they are number one.

If I were you I would start picking out your spot along Portage for the parade.

Arniel saying "Al I " going to 1st line and 1st PP, Apples going to PP 2.
The line changes make some sense, but the PP decisions are beyond baffling.

Perfetti should be on PP1 instead of AI and Lowry should be on PP2 instead of Appleton.

With the way Appleton has played this year, especially the last 2 months, how can he get promoted at both 5 on 5 and PP when Gabe goes down?

It's about roles though. If they plan on leaving the scheme the same iafallo is a better fit to stand right in front of the net. But I'd think that if Gabe is gone for a long time then maybe they need to completely revamp the PP and find a spot for Cole on unit one. But hard to do with one day between games.

Appelton shouldn't be on pp 2 though. I'd put Lowry on it.

Yeah.... Appleton is lucky to be on the team given the way he has been playing, and now he goes to the 2nd PP :dunno: In the last 30 games Apples has 2 goals on 42 shots.

even more pissed the ref let it go now...
Yup the difference in the game ... the refs with a 2 goal swing.
The ref does not call the interference on Demelo where the Sabres scored the first goal but then he calls a weak interference on Appleton that results in a Sabres PP goal.
Yes he called a BS interference penalty on the Sabres with 5 mins left ... maybe a make up call?

I assume based on your name you are Finnish and cannot read English very well. The Odds makers have Dallas and Florida as favorites.

The only thing I will pick out is my spot to cross it once renovations are completed.

The Minnesota Mild have as good a chance as the jets do of winning the cup.

I have never seen a poster say the Jets suck but i hope i'm wrong more.

A few years back.....??? How about 13 years ago? :laugh: Yup definitely the same team as back then. And by the way we already beat Washington this season in their barn on February 1st . Maybe you could use a little more recent history to predict games but what good is that because the Jets won right ? Unbelievable.:biglaugh:
What poster said the Jets suck? They had zero puck luck yesterday but also kinda played into Buffalo's game plan.

History does repeat itself is al li am saying and this team is not playing anywhere near the same way it was playing on February 1st. I think you can admit that!!

Agreed. Today was the most frustrating game I've been too this season. A average Helly performance likely gives us win despite the amount of blown opportunities.
Helle has been rather under average himself, lately. I'm personally in favour of Comrie getting some more starts even if he lays the occasional egg, versus the traditional Helle regression come playoff time possibly due to overwork/fatigue. I'm in favour of at least giving him a bit more rest down the stretch to give it a try that fatigue is why he's been sub-par in the playoffs and that more rest will give us a better chance.

Also since that lost against the Jets ... Dallas has not won a game in regulation time. DeBoer even called out the team also Rantanen the biggest TDL splash only has 4 goals (one an empty net goal) in 20 games including the Canes.
The good news is SN gave the top story at 11 to the Jets and I also noticed on Saturday the Leafs losing to the Preds was not the top story.
Can it be true SN cares more about the Jets than the Leafs?
Now that is silly talk. Sportsnet is the beeleafer nation.
Dallas and the Jets have both been subpar since that game, which is good news for the Av's and Blues to a lesser extent . Both teams are 8-1-1 in last 10.
The Jets are lucky they had such a good start.
I truly hope this is not the collapse many of us feared.

I would say coach is trying to help him get one in, so that more come after. Scoring in the NHL is very much a confidence thing. Appleton did a good job against Buffalo getting to scoring areas. The guy was a good scorer on the Moose, I think he's just missing confidence right now. I would have like to have seen Lowry on PP1, but you have an older model tank there, might be trying to keep some mileage on him.
