On his goal, the fact that he knew to follow Stepan's forecheck (which was one of the most badass things i've ever seen Step do) is something I haven't seen anybody on this team do consistently even last year.

I can not stress this enough. Amazing to have another player who can effect a game even without scoring. THOSE are the types of players you win with. That's the type of player Torts likes to have around. One of my favorite players in the entire league.

Does anyone know what kind of terms Clowe is looking for on his next contract? Would be great to lock him up for a few years, but it is going to be tight with RFAs to be signed (unless they buy out Richards at the end of this season, leaving us short on Cs once again)

I dont know Clowe's demands but 3-4 years sounds about right. If they buyout Richards and sign Weiss (NOT Ribiero. He's 33. Way too old and will be way too expensive) the Rangers will be set down the middle.

Clowe is a unique player like Clarkson, Lucic and Kassian. He can just tell his agent to get him a Lucic contract and some team will give it to him. For that reason alone, I do not like this move. This is a pure rental unless as Sting said, we severely overpay for him and regret it down the line.

If Clowe takes a discount here, I'd be completely shocked. He is easily worth 6m/per yr when you consider in his playing style and that he's been a better player than Lucic his entire career. He will get paid.

He will not get 6 million/year. There were rumors he wanted 5. Normally the rumors are high. My guess is 4-4.25.

def 4yr 4-4.5/yr for sure.. not saying he wont be taking a discount but the guy waived his NTC to come here and play and not be looked at as a rental but looking for a team he could fit on and be a big part of.. He CHoose to be here and slats wouldnt trade futures (14' picks) without potential of locking him up long term..

I think the main thing to take into account is that Clowe and the Rangers had already spoken about an extension before he was traded. Clowe didn't want to be traded anywhere without signing an extension. The Rangers are doing the smart thing in seeing how he fits in before giving it to him but the groundwork for the deal is already done.

Yeah, I don't see him getting anywhere near $6M per year. Lucic is a different situation entirely. Younger and had a 30 goal season under his belt.

Glad he played well last night. You could tell he was playing with something to prove. Hopefully he can keep it up.

If Dorsett can come back healthy before season's end, the best part of the Gaborik trade becomes not having to see Pyatt in th ice. I had decent expectations for him coming into the year and he's come nowhere close to them.
