Ryane Clowe

Good to see you guys get the win, and definitely good to see Ryane Clowe get some of his offensive mojo back! :handclap:

I hope he plays as awesome for you guys as he has for SJ in the past 8 years.

This guy is awesome, as I was saying. :) Confident in saying that he'll be playing that way almost every night. Very good player.

Brassard/Moore, the jury is out on. Clowe? This is just what he's been doing the last 4 seasons.

So seriously. Clowe's lack of foot speed was WAY overblown. He looked average out there, speed-wise.

I hesitate to harsh your mellow like Sting has been doing, but let's not discount the adrenaline Clowe had to be running on tonight. I'm all-in on the Clowe trade by the way, still on the fence about the Gabby return (wanted him gone, but waffled on the price), and naturally cautious as a long-time Ranger fan.

Brassard has averaged 40 points. If he can do that as a 3c, that would be a HUGE help.

For this night anyway Clowe looked like Cam Neely. Set the tone for the game with a huge hit on Engelland. Carrying this on from here is the thing and is in his own best interest if this is the place he wants to be.

The Rangers need this kind of a presence in their lineup. A no nonsense physical force that can add offense. This is the best game the Rangers played all year and Ryane was a big reason for it.

On being a rental, “I’d like to be here for a while. It’s early and we will feel it out on both sides and see what happens, but hopefully I can play my best hockey and be here for a while.†Clowe says.

i hope he meant it.. :yo: players always say the right things but lets see what Sather does.

Glad to see you guys get the win and really glad to see Clowe do well.

Clowe's one of the more honest players. I'm sure he means that and hopefully it works out for both sides. Good luck the rest of the way.

Glad to see you guys got your version of Clarkson. That 0 goal trend was an aberration. He has scored 24 once before.

I just loved the endless 0 goals jokes and his first game with us he goes God-Tier.

It is easy to see that Clowe understands hockey, and his place in it.
The first thing he did was make a hit, which brings a player into the game.

Players who do not hit, are not really the players you want, at least not in the NHL.

i cant wait to hear his announcement if Rangers resign him.. if it happens im guessing 3 years... maybe 4... i hope he loves NYC. one of my favorite players that is finally a Ranger :yo: great part about this trade, Rangers didnt give up one prospect like Bruins and Pens did :yo: just picks we will see how that turns out in 3-5 years.. good job by Sather

Wait, so Clowe is an UFA after this year, meaning we might have traded a 2nd and 3rd for a guy to play 12 games for us?

Clowe is a unique player that plays with an edge, gets teammates going (was alternate Captain) stands up for players and drops gloves when he has to, winning most bouts .... but more importantly he has soft hands, is good at protecting the puck in the offensive zone, sees the ice very well, and isn't afraid to go into the hard places to score.

His negatives are that his style of play leads to injuries that he wont discuss so he goes into long stretches where he can be a non factor. He's a good skater but gets a slow first step. Hes not good at a back check. He's not as good in back to back games and labors skating bending over at the waist and then takes reaching penalties.

When fresh he's one of the top power forwards in the league. He can serve in many roles from on-ice coach and mentor, to defender/enforcer, can win shootouts, to providing a big net presence in front, and even be an above average set up man. He's been well loved in most camps in SJ for his huge heart. I'm sure you will all immediately see what a special player he can be and he will become a fan favorite.

Does anyone know what kind of terms Clowe is looking for on his next contract? Would be great to lock him up for a few years, but it is going to be tight with RFAs to be signed (unless they buy out Richards at the end of this season, leaving us short on Cs once again)
