I'm more comparing Suter and Weber, than Suter and Josi...because Suter and Weber are closer in age.

And I'm not sure how you can be that declarative with your bolded statement. The offensive numbers of Suter and Weber are about as close as you can get.

Weber: 1014 GP, 580 points
Suter: 1165 GP, 596 points
Gotcha.

I'd still say, while Weber's 47 point career pace is still higher than Suter's 41, Weber's shot made that small difference larger, IMHO.

Was planning to do a Josi vs Weber poll but found this in the search engine so figured I'd bump this instead.

Josi has since added another year where he finished as a Norris finalist and his record looks like this (only included top 10 finishes for everyone)
1, 2, 2, 5, 5, 7, 7

Weber
2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10

So now both have been a finalist the same amount of times. Josi is already aging better though, 2 time Norris finalist from ages 31-33 whereas Weber stopped getting votes after 31. Does that change anyone's vote?

And here is Suter's
2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 9

Doesn't really compare, but I think most of us can agree that has more to do with the type of defenseman he is rather than him not deserving a better Norris record.

Weber really deserved at least one Norris.

2011 should've been his.

I honestly think it's a toss up between Weber and Josi at this point, they're very different stylistically so it's hard to compare, but Josi continues to impress.

Josi was also super close to winning the 2022 Norris, which would've given him another one in addition to the 2020 Norris.

The voting is from 3 years ago, if you really want to know people's opinion you could start a new poll. A lot has happened since and most won't come back here to update their votes :)

I went with Josi-Weber-Suter.

Josi is aging like fine wine, been the league's most productive Dman since 2017.

I think it's interesting that they are era-suited, as well, to be honest. Weber was really the quintessential dman type of the 2008-16ish era, Josi from then to now. I'm sure they still enjoy massive success if you were to swap them in their ages but I'm not sure it's quite the same.

Josi
Suter
Weber

Weber is one of the most overrated players of all time. He gets rated higher than he should because he he looks mean, is a good ole Canadian boy, and has a hard shot.

Suter and Josi are both better hockey players than Weber.
Total joke. Weber was the best Dman on team Canada in 2014. A team with: Duncan Kieth, Drew Doughty, PK Subban, Hammuis, Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo, and Vlassic. He should absolutely have one Norris by now if not 2 and was a phenomenal player.

He averaged nearly 18 goals a season while in Nashville, finished top 4 in Norris voting four times, including top 2 twice where he was arguably robbed when Lidstrom won in 2011 and EK in 2012.

From a Hawks fan who has spent the last 15 years watching all 3 of these guys, Weber is comfortably the best of the three.

Tough. I think ultimately Josi first because he won, even if it's against much weaker competition, IMO.

Suter doesn't belong here though.

Suter’s biggest issues in these polls is probably that he’s never played anywhere where the fanbase still likes him
And did you ever think why? Fans tend to like their elite Defenders, no? Is it because fans have though that he is overpaid, although his salary was lower than others in this comparison?

Josi.

Weber is getting the Canadian bias. Him being a ‘prototypical’ dman with his size and hard shot gets him overrated as well.

Weber.

Josi is getting the European bias. Him being a 'modern' dman with his active stick defending and pretty skating gets him overrated as well.

Do Minny fans really not like him? He pretty much did what was expected on his deal until he was bought out

I figured it was Weber-Josi-Suter

But I'd wanna hear what Predator fans have to say.

I hope you realise you've been spoiled rotten and most franchises have never had a Dman as good as those 3, let alone in the same timeframe.

Hard to rank them, obviously they were all Norris caliber defensemen in their primes, Suter gets underrated but played a mistake free 30+ minutes a night day in and day out but it'd be easy to look at the other options and have him come out third, no fault of his own.
Josi is one of the best offensive defensemen in the game and nearly hit 100 points, and Weber could lead the team in goals while also shutting down top guys.

For sure we do need to respect Poile's ability to identify franchise type defensemen.

I'd go Josi--Weber-Suter

That's good data but I don't know that the Norris voters have such an amazing record.

JMO, but Weber is the best of the bunch. When I watched him play at his best and even later in his career, he was just a player who could kind of do everything you need from a 1 D. Very strong defensively and able to contribute offensively too. Super high hockey IQ IMO.

Stil Weber - Josi - Suter IMO.
