New owners want to make Isles a world class destination for players? But this is how Snow does business. Seems there is something wrong.

This is all speculation, no one knows what went on other than Snow and Frans.

Snow could play Strome's situation same as he did with Bailey. Bailey didn't sign his qualifier after his ELC expired. His agent then signed a 2 year extension on the last possible day for peanuts. Kind of world class slavery. New owners and nothing has changed.

Did you not see the money they just doled out for Ladd? And that they wanted to go all out for Stamkos? But "LOLZ THIER CHEEP" I swear people will slam the Islanders no matter what they do.....

Strome has higher value for the Isles, than what he will likely bring back in a trade.

not sure why he isn't signed yet, but maybe they are hammering out a long term deal? obviously an impasse is possible, but i don't think (hope?) that he wants out.

we only have Strome and Clutterbuck as natural righties. what i would hope for, is to make a trade for a top line RWer, using Nelson and deHaan as the main pieces.

Ladd, JT, new RWer, Strome, Leddy, Hamonic, Boychuk, Pulock to be protected.

Lee would be exposed, and it will hurt losing him, but we have many left handed options in the pipeline. Prince, Quine, Kulemin, Bailey and the kids - Dal Colle, Beauvillier, Bellows (possibly Golyshev?)

It is simple.... Barzal and Josh Ho Sang......Strome is odd man out Really not much more then 2 younger players who want it more and have more talent. Time will Tell

That sounds like the comments from non-isle fans last summer, before Nelson signed his 3 yr /$10m extension: isles are ruining their relationship with Nelson by playing hardball in contract talks. Nelson will demand a trade. Isles will have to move him and should not expect full value.

Now it's Strome coming off a disappointing and inconsistent 28 pt season, who the isles should be writing a large, unearned check for?

Nelson had 20 goals in his last season before his ELC expired. Then Nelson signed 3 years for 2.5M avg cap hit.

Who said that Strome should get an unearned check?
Maybe some players can't perform well under this coaching staff.
Bailey is a pretty good example how Snow played hardball.
Keeping this coaching staff is not world class. Laugh about these new owners and Snow.

Even in Nelson 20 goal seasons, he has drawn the coaches, front office and fans ire because he has been so disappointingly inconsistent. On steady pace for 30 goals only to disappear for a couple of months and finsh with 20 goals. His inconsistent play cost him at the contract table. Had he been more consistent, he would have cashed in for a much better payday.

Now Strome, having followed up a very impressive 50 pts season with a disappointing and inconsistent 28 pt season, cannot command the type of big, long term deal he wants. He will have to settle for a show me, bridge type deal.

This is the same coaching staff that got 25 goals out of Lee and 50 pts out of Strome.

As for the new majority owners.....their willingness to make Ladd's deal heavily front loaded and bonus filled, is a key reason they landed Ladd. Ledecky has already indicated in a discussion with fans, that they are prepared to open the checkbook and pay a large amount to keep Tavares.

Either way.....no interest in trading 22/23 yr old Strome.

And if the Islanders just gave him a contract quickly, these same people would be saying they hand out contracts too easily and will run into cap trouble down the line.

He is playing at a third line level for a playoff team but gets a chance on the higher lines because of the roster he is on. He reminds me of a few of our players although he did have a big drop in stats last season. 2M /3 years is a fair deal. Our guy Namestnikov got that and he is happy, he can play on the top lines but there are better guys ahead of him.

Complete outsider here but maybe something around Strome + Brodin would work?

Very true. Isles would be bashed left and right if they rewarded Strong with a big contract, coming off a 28 pt season.

Snow's not doing his job , if he does not offer a team friendly deal that gives Strome security and Strome's rep should be encouraging Strome to take a 1-2 yr bridge deal, gambling that he can cash in down the road.

Isles defense with Leddy, Hamonic,CDH,Boychuk and the nhl ready Pulock is imo the team strength.

The question marks are the 3 headed goalie monster and the switch among ufa forwards.Replacing KO/Nielsen/Martin with Ladd/PAP/Chimera. Isles need their young forwards Strome/Nelsson/Lee to play with more consistency, provide more scoring.

Demko/Markstrom for Strome sound fair? Hurts giving one of them up, but we won't have space for both.

I think Demko is an overpay but we don't "need" him. We are set with young goalies, having several very good to great prospects. Need is a top six forward (which is the problem...hard to find a team willing to trade a protectable top six forward).

No thanks. I like all 3 of the isles nhl goalies . The problem is they need to decide which of the 2 they want to keep and move the 3rd.Also, they have a couple of promising goalie prospects.

Ryan had a pretty bad year last year production wise, but hsi prev year showed he has what it takes to eventually produce, could yet become a 1C. NYI seem to be having some kind of issues getting a contract with him as he is RFA. Any NYI fans know what the issue there is, and what would his value be for the Canucks to acquire?

Juolevi, Hutton, Bo, JV, Boeser, Demko would all be untouchable at this point for our young guys.

Classic, one of these threads where I want one of your best young players, but anyone with value from my organization is untouchable.

Really? so his 2nd season where he put up 17g33a50pts was an anomally in what will be his career? idk why his production dropped off last year, but someone as young as him with his talen could grow from there i would think. What happened?

cronin probably convinced capuano to play a sort of lw lock defensive style in 2015-16 which resulted in a better defensive effort but a less exciting offensive attack .

they made playoffs , won a round but the isles were extremely boring to watch on most nights .I suspect strome's learning curve towards new system didnt help his offense .
