Wait, people really think Reaves is not playing full time?

I mean at least for the first 20 games until they realize they are losing and try something else?

Tom Wilson is living rent free in the MSG offices.

Offseason is getting worse by the minute.

Deservedly so. Go back and watch Wilson punching Buch in the head and then rag dolling Panarin. We got very lucky those two were not hurt seriously.

Any team so blatantly lacking in leadership and grit as the Rangers were last season had something like the Wilson inncident waiting to happen.

This is obvious and proper imho.

As Wilson was going to the box, two names popped into my head

Nick Fotiu.

Ryan Reeves.

I think it’s fine and good until you start penciling in a lineup and realize which guys are left out or still sitting in a bottom six role.

I hear this concern for sure. Especially if it ends up being Kakko who draws the short straw. They gotta give that kid room to run.

The Reaves move really only immediately impacts Gauthier (edit - and perhaps Barron). Which is a bit frustrating, would have liked to see him in some different roles, but not the end of the world given what he did show and the investment made.

A similar path (limited looks in prime roles) and outcome (out of the org early) but on a much grander scale with Kakko would be completely unacceptable.

I feel like Hunt has that purpose and roll - especially if he can line up on the right side with Barron and Rooney.

Reaves…that’s where that overkill element comes into play.

With guys like Fox, Kakko, Kratsov LaFreniere Panarin and Zib in the lineup, I'm just fine with a little overkill.

I don't think it's a stretch to think that at least a few of our guys are very cool with this move.

Good, it balances out their disappointment with Buch leaving.

A lot depends on where they go from here. How they use Blais, whether they move Strome, if Goodrow is playing center, if Kreider or Lafreniere are taking shifts on the right side, etc. But if we are riding Mika, Strome and Chytil down the middle, I feel like we are looking at more than Gauthier being the impact zone.

I am hoping the next step is moving Strome rather than multiple pieces and moves involving Eichel.

I feel like the “he won’t play every day” is learned self-soothing technique almost all of us have had to adopt at some point.

I guess, yet he is playing.

This is not about the Rangers being a better team, this is about Dolan's letter about the DOPs finding no supportive audience among his peers or with really anyone else within the league.

What he does not realize, if these moves have his desired effect and find an audience among those he wishes, his players are getting suspended for much less than what Wilson did, and while that may make the NHL look hypocritical, that is nothing new and they won't care.

More moves definitely coming. This isn't the roster we go into opening night with.

Meh, 3rd round is a crap shoot anyway. It's just kinda funny what a set of events a single player has set in motion.

if you think this is because of one player you are mistaken. This is going on for years now, Rangers have been an embarrassment. Think of the run into Henrik, last year the Martin hit, Wilson, even the hit that took Fast out. Rangers cannot afford this anymore with Lafrieniere, Kakko and Panarin. They have to protect their gold. Wilson was just the last straw. But this is not just about him.

I guess, and doesn't hurt that Gallant knows the guy. And, if you are getting toughness, might as well get a guy like Reaves instead of Wayne Simmonds like Toronto did.

Teams that go deep have a roster that is built on players who can actually play hockey, not what Tinordi/Reaves/etc. do.

Rangers have a team built for the play offs... I hope they're also good enough to actually make the play offs.

I take it Mr Drury hasn't impressed you this past week?

When you're coming off 2 seasons where you miss the play offs, and your best free agency acquisition is Patrik Nemeth... You're going to have fans who aren't happy. This team is relying heavily on Lafrenière, Kakko and Kravtsov to break out for them to make the play offs.

I’m pretty apathetic about this honestly. It’s not the best, not the worst. It’s not gonna do shit though. They’ll end up giving out PPs to the caps.

This is about trying to repair the Rangers fans feelings.

I agree. Such a waste of an offseason. Trading Buch for a second round pick is disgusting and signing all these goons. Lol we are a joke.

Fire Drury. I'm not kidding. Take the reigns away from him before he does more damage.

this is beyond stupid.

Imagine Wilson or any other player doing a thing like Wilson did again this upcoming season. And Rangers did nothing to prevent it in the offseason.Must have hard ass players to protect the star players and makes the best players perform even better.i think this was the only way to go make the team tougher to play against. They are a more balanced team now and going to perform better.

Mostly, Ryan Reaves skates around and absolutely nothing happens.

Could be worse. Could be better.

If someone wants to evaluate this signing, don’t follow Ryan Reeves around on the ice.

Look at the other players on the team, do they play with more confidence than last season? Do they play with more attitude?

If they do, it’s a good trade, if they don’t, it wasn’t. We hanged these kids out to dry last season with zero back-up. I think that it was obvious that they shrunk as the season progressed. It wasn’t good.
