I don't see where he fits right now?

He doesn't. His role has become redundant. There will be teams once in a while that will go over board but even in those games, he doesn't do much.

The Tkachucks, Wilson, Crouse isn't going to fight him. So there's no value

I rather Steeves/Grebs long look. They haven't looked out of place, they are more valuable for future and playoff -readiniess

Yep, depth or waive him, he will clear. Most of us that didn't get all over the top about the deal figured it wouldn't last until the end anyways, cap hit after waivers is nothing and he's depth.
Yeah, he'll get the Simmonds treatment(waived but remain with the team) and earn a nice cheque as a cheerleader.

I think he has some use as a heavy forechecking forward. When the coach feels he will need one I think he will play. Well that and....

3 year term is so bizarre. Tre really wanted him that badly for some reason.

Suprised so many don't understand why he wanted him. It wasn't for his hockey skills first. Tre understands how to build a team and knew he needed to build one. Reaves is great for your locker room and has also at least been slightly helpful in shifting the tone of the team into one who doesn't take any shit

I know it's not for his hockey skills, but 3 years seems bizarre for a guy like that. They will probably waive him anyway. So what's the point of the 3 years?

Another team was offering more money but 2 years. We couldn't afford more so gave an extra year hoping by then the cap went up enough to almost fully bury it

He’s always the 2nd last guy to fire up the boys when they leave the room.
Marner obviously last.

I am also disappointed by this. He is an important part of the team. Fans may not recognize this but the players in the locker room love Reaves and so does Berube as he keeps trotting him out there. He doesn't have to play every game but I like that he is on the team and an option for Berube on the 4th line.

Yup for sure. He's keeping Reaves bought in by playing him because they value him and another aspect is he talks on the bench. Everyone is in awe of Minten being very talkative on the bench almost every player said it when asked about him at this point. We need guys who keep the energy up on the bench.

So many years if players weren't on the ice they sat silently.

No doubt. But his tenure as a Leafs has come to an end. All these injuries and suspensions has shine some light on other players. They have thrived and earned a spot

I look at someone like Minten. Definitely earned a spot
Steeves, you can tell he has some NHLer in him. He's only 24
Grebs, very raw but hasn't looked out of place

1.5 million dollar for a feel good guy is too much. He can be part of the team, if he plays every 3 or 4 games as a reliever
