Kind of looks like it's a normal hit except for his shoulder getting Nurse in the head.

Doesn't seem to jump, or elbow, but does extend the elbow to explode into him after contact.

I'm guessing the 5 and kicked out is possibly all he gets unless the angles in the replay don't do the hit justice.
The head looks like the principle point of contact to me.

..... how?
Doesn't leave his feet, doesn't put the elbow out. Doesn't look like a charge with steps/strides before the hit.

Catches him with his shoulder and makes contact with the head, so gets the 5 and a game, but it isn't blatantly dirty, can't see that be a long one, but you never with the the Derpartment durrections

It's a hit to the head. He deserves a suspension. He will get suspended.

However, when I think of "Dirty af" I think of intentional. it clearly was a poor decision/mis-timed hit where Reaves was trying to get in on the forecheck and not intentionally targeting the head.
Yeah I don’t think Reeves was at all trying to get Nurse’s head but he did and deserves to get a few games.

Am I crazy? Headshot was definitely no good, but no charge, no jump + nurse being crouched over not protecting himself. 2 games maybe?
It’s definitely not the worst hit ever.

Everything you said was right, but he timed that so poorly. Head could have been avoided.

It’ll be a couple games, but it won’t be 10+ like some are saying

I could understand this argument in 2001, but every single hit where the head is the principle target is a suspension. Have you missed the last 20 years, or am I getting trolled?

I doubt there was intent to get the head. He was going for a huge hit, but doesn't seem to try and get the head.

The thing is. He did get the head, and looks like he got it first. That should and likely will be a suspension; fully deserved.

You can't have hitting and expect hits to not, at times make head contact.

The head looks like the principle point of contact to me.
Hard to tell. Kind of does, kind of looks like he gets like the head, down to the ribs area at the same time.

I honestly don't see what is really wrong with this kinda hit... Its unfortunate outcome, and there is definitely head contact, but Nurse is just looking down goin around the net and leaning forward. What is Reaves suppose to do if he wants to lay the body there? Just pull up and not because Nurse is skating around the net with his head down? Fast pace game, will always be situations like his that walk a fine line that can turn it to go either way.

He'll get suspended though for sure.

Poor edmonton down to just 2 NHL defence men now.
He could have just hit him in the shoulder. Would have been a massive hit that may have hurt Nurse anyway with how unaware he was Reeves was coming.
But it would have been clean.

But Reeves missed his core and clipped his head because he just isn’t very good. And as such he deserves the suspension he is probably going to get.

Not make the head the main point of contact, which he could’ve done if he were a better hockey player

On further analysis I have a hard time seeing what reaves did wrong. He went through the body, didn’t elevate or stick anything out, Nurse just had his head at a stupid angle and made it the principle point of contact.

Seems like bad awareness in Nurses end and Reaves was just big. Bad recipe.
It wasn't "head hunting" But he was trying to destroy Nurse with a huge hit. He caught a lot of chest but he also got the head at the same time.

It wasn't the worst hit but 5 minutes was the right call.
