Confirmed with Link: Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee traded to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

Wait a minute. This REBUILDING (haha) team will find a way how to trade a Frost and a Farabee whose value they tanked for years (sound familiar?) but can't for the love of god manage to move Laughtons and Ristos of the world?

If the team takes a clear nose dive after this, then I won't even be mad.

I'll think of the inadvertent tank of as silent "future considerations" attached here.

It's not 2021 and COVID. The cap is going up $9M next year.

Though I suspect Danny's been shopping both players, which tells you how much more this board values them than the NHL if this was his best offer.

Eventually you're going to realize that the protege of Fletcher simply gets brutalized on value on everything he does. Like Fletcher did.

And you'll slam him for it when defending the next incompetent GM. Whole pretending you aren't defending it right now. The old "he had no choice!"

Here it is everyone. He's done a hard system reset and is fully on board with a blatant Risto-level loss.

Set your phone's to remind you in three years, because that's about when he will be running all over this move as justification for firing Briere and hiring whatever god forsaken slob Clarke knows next.
Lol...he could not bring himself to just say "yeah, that's a bad deal for Philly"

He deserves this shit team

Anyway. I'm done with this team for a season or two. This board, sure, love you guys. But I'm not wasting time even watching scores the next day after a game. F this
There is a reason why the menu thread is the only one I frequent anymore

Remember! They aren't rebuilding. They drafted high for two years, so rebuild is over. They think they're setting the stage for contention in 18 months, despite there being nobody in the pipeline replacing either of these players. Never mind that ADDING to them would be the more appropriate move, but they don't work that way. They think you can have too much talent, and that having too much is worse than not having enough; they think that not having enough is fixed through culture.

We are f***ed always and forever until everyone with any degree of connection to Clarke is fired.

It's not a huge loss, it was obvious neither player was a good fit going forward.
Should have gotten more value, but the trade won't even help a good tank.

You could plug Abols in at center, Richard/Lycksell at LW and not have that big of a falloff. Abols has size, decent speed, smarts and a modicum of skill. Not a long-term solution but can patch for a year or two. Took him a couple months to adjust to NA hockey but looks like a NHL player.

Do you wonder why every person disagrees with you including Flames fans? Oh, and guy why defends EVERYTHING in Dead?

Go look at the main board...Flyers got killed in the trade is the overwhelming feeling.

Maybe you are just wrong.

We'll get back to this discussion in a month...

For two players that will be 24 (unproven, fresh off waivers) and 29 (cap dump). Briere Jr. put more thought into throwing that wheelchair down a flight of stairs.

Everything matters, remember? Cumulative impact? They traded two guys they have no replacement for, anytime soon.

The team is getting actively older. They're going for it in a year or two and they think this is how to do it. Abols is nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I can't recall the last time shipping out a player or two to cater the coach backfired for this team, eh

Frost was top six by default (though Couts has outscored him at ES, 23 to 18).
Farabee was the 3LW.
They would not have been top six next year, I think they had already slotted Jett ahead of Frost.
Michkov, TK, Tippett, Foerster, Brink were all ahead of Farabee. Pelletier will replace him on the 3rd line.

Frost wasn't suppressed, he just wasn't as good as people here think he was. He played with Michkov, TK and Tippett, our three best scoring forwards and had mediocre production.
In Calgary he'll play with Farabee and Sharangovich on their 3rd line.
Abols will replace him in the short-run, but his long-term replacement isn't on the team.

I have no problem losing these two, I just wish they had obtained a 1st or one of Calgary's better prospects.

WTF would anyone give a 1st if those two were as bad as you claim they were...cmon now lol

Jesus Christ, there’s no way you think career minor leaguers Abols and Richard are comparable to Frost and Farabee. At least Fonzie only jumped a shark, not the whole f***ing Atlantic Ocean.
Abols, watching him he's for real, not a great player but solid bottom six center who isn't as offensively gifted as Frost but bigger, smarter. Better speed than I expected. It's not like Frost was tearing up the league, on a 29 ES point pace which is fine for a middle six center, but nothing special.

Richard is a scorer, like Farabee, not as good defensively, but again, we're not talking a huge dropoff simply b/c Farabee wasn't playing that well. Richard has scored at a higher rate.

They're downgrades, but not that far down b/c the starting point wasn't that high.

Now in the longer run, Frost's replacement isn't on the team, and unless Pelletier is a revelation, Farabee's replacement is going to be Barkey, Bump or a draft pick.

I have always kept up hope on Frost and Farabee but the more I've seen of both of them the more I was thinking complementary player rather than cornerstones.
Did they get fair value? Maybe, depends on the bigger picture and the TDL.
Did they win the trade? Definitely not, unless Kuzmenko clicks with Michkov, rejuvenates his career and stays here at a discount.

This is a crack pipe take. Holy shit.
