RNH took a discount to stay in Edmonton and has a full NMC, he isn't going anywhere. But hypothetically speaking I'd guess Edmonton would ask for something around Carlo, he'd fill a huge need for them.

His value to Edmonton is far higher than what his market value would be, you’d have to offer a substantial overpayment. He’s paid like a 60 point player who is coming off a 100 point season, likely Edmonton’s best contract, Hell if he has a few more 80+ point seasons it may be one of the better contracts in the league

Not really seeing a fit here, Oilers need him and his contract.

RNH took a big discount on AAV to stay in Edmonton, there's no chance Edmonton asks him to move. Plus his contract is excellent value and will be for at least a few more years unless his production tanks.

DeBrusk Swayman and Bruins take Campbell back at full price would be a starting point.

But also it ain’t happening

That's an insane ask for a #2C that doesn't really excel at anything sans being the third most important piece to an all time power play.

But agree its not happening so not worth discussing.

It sure is but if Boston wants him and he’s not a piece being offered then I don’t see why Edmonton would trade him for less than a big overpay

That's kind of the point, his value to Edmonton is just too high. He's a cost controlled asset for a team that wants to become a contender

Yep.

Even if he didn't have a 100 point season. Guy signed cheap af to stay and asked for a NMC.

Good luck getting him to waive unless last year or two.

Lock the thread up Mods. Oil nation has spoken.

I did state hypothetically but it's hard to evaluate in a salary cap era understandably.

Not gonna lie, didn't know he hit 100pts this year. Very nice deal even if he does average 60-70pts, insanely valued if anything PPG or above.

The fact that its an "insane ask" is inextricable from the fact that its not happening/not worth discussing.

RNH is an all-situations, all-positions, homegrown, highly respected veteran coming off a 100 point season, paid $5.125m for 6 more years, and on a team that has one of the trickiest cap situations in the league. A logical response to a ridiculous premise is bound to sound ridiculous, but it would take a truly ridiculous package to get him out of Edmonton. I don't even really like that package from an Oilers perspective tbh

Except they don't get a say. I love RNH but if it makes the team better you trade him. It's not like trading him will hurt him. He is still a millionaire and will make more over the next 2 year than most will make in their life time of work.

Having said that I wouldn't be shopping RNH but if a team called and made a good offer that improved the team as a GM you aren't doing your job if you don't talk to him about waiving. NTC aren't about helping the team it's about the player wanting some control over where he goes team be damned
