He didn't have a good game last night but in fairness he was rocked with hits multiple times last night and by some freight trains. It was ironic to me that Nucks were outhitting us and that their D were outhitting us. Oilers forwards were being made to pay for having puck. Conversely we allowed midgets like Garland and Hughes to just move puck anywhere without touching them.

Aside from that I'd like to see a bit more weight and physical play from McLeod but without sacrificing the speed of the player. I think he might be playing hurt at moment too. He's lost a step. Looks to be struggling with something. Our team speed is really impacted when McD is out and when McLeod not 100% (or I suspect so)

Like I said in GDT even Janmark speed was heavily needed last night. Holloway would be too but that player seems allergic to be skating in any straight lines..

McLeod is probably our best pk forward and is running good goal suppression numbers EV or pk. he gets to a lot of pucks. His transition play and skating up ice and gaining Ozone also very good.

The way he's playing right now, he will be Europe-bound in a couple of seasons. He is mostly invisible in tight and tough games. Like going to the corner, banging some bodies, or doing something to get yourself into the game.

Foegele plays the same way, he just disappears against physical teams and is pretty much a finished product at this point. It also didn't help that their D were hitting everything that moves including our toughest player in Kane while Kane was the only one of our players that played like he was ready to kick some ass last night. Teams play bigger when they know they have enough players that are willing to stand up for them if needed. Where was Nurse, Desharnais and Carrick? Carrick wanted to go with Zadorov but that was it from that trio.

100%, the playoffs are a different animal. If guys like Desharnais and Nurse are no shows that way we are beyond screwed. Nuge is a good example of a guy that's not overly physical but can impact a game, McLeod should follow his lead IMO.

Yes Bouchard has been bad. It’s all relative, he’s expected to be better than he is.

McLeod is expected to be a mid level 3rd liner

I just find it strange that you place more value in mediocre players than in our stars. But I guess it's relative to expectation.

I’ve been watching hockey for almost 50 years, I’ve seen the euro invasion and all kinds of whiners and divers but I’ve never seen a bigger wuss than Ryan McLeod.
The fact that he’s from Edmonton and an Oiler disgusts me to no end.
If anyone can name a bigger wuss in a bottom 6 role I’d love to know who that is.

He's smart, and skates well. I have time for players like this. I would give him a chance to fill out more and try to add more physicality to his game. His struggles should keep him affordable too. Still think there is a very good all situations utility player there.

The offense won't be there but he'll be a player who will enjoy a long NHL career as a speedy penalty killer.

Mcleod was so frustrating to watch in the playoffs, where every single play and shift gets magnified. Incredibly fast, would be able to transport pucks pretty efficiently through the neutral.. but then dump it and turn away or worse, turn it over at the blue and have the other team turn up quickly.

He was an excellent PKer and had overall very good defensive numbers but our piss poor cap management resulted in him having to go. Hope well for him in BUF.. but also time to move on.

Don’t want dudes that won’t put their body on the line in the biggest games of their careers.

dude was allergic to contact and it was frustrating as hell watching an injured Mcdavid and Draisailt throwing their weight around while this guy casually bumped shoulders with the defenseman on the forecheck.

He needed to go. He’s the type of player you can’t have on a contending team, can’t be allergic to physical contact, was absolutely baffling how he shy’d away from it.

I soured on him all season but when the playoffs rolled around I couldn’t take it any longer. If your not gonna bleed for your team in the playoffs, nevermind the finals the door is thataway.

I feel like he could fill out to be 220 pounds of pure muscle and he still would be the least physical player on the ice.

Yeah, it was time to move on for sure. His constant turning away was a huge turn off. Actively shied away from contact, did some flyby stick wave on checks and wouldn't engage even a bit. I don't wish the guy ill and as I said there are some definite subtractions in terms of team speed and defence but I know I had enough. Hell my dad was muttering bloody murder watching the games.
