Ryan Johnson with a goal and an assist in yesterday's 7-2 over Omaha in the NCAA West Regional opener. +4 for the night, 3 shots and 2 blocked shots.

He's going to be a lock in the top4. Enjoy
Yes, maybe Thompson too, he still got the tools..Hope so. He is our last bastion of hope to get something useful out of that God forsaken trade.

Johnson, Samuelsson, Laaksonen, there are some great D-prospects on their way up.
Then this will be the last nail in the coffin of ROR trade, I don't really believe in Thompson.Let's hope he will sign and not walk out on us in the NCAA route.

There's certainly an argument to be made to sign him this year and prevent that from happening.
If your toolbox has a big ass hole in the bottom, does it really matter what tools you have?
Yeah we have to signed him soon. Can't have Cal Peterson take 2 happen. There's certainly an argument to be made to sign him this year and prevent that from happening.
I totally read that wrong the first time.
Agreed.
Well, Minnesota State has defeated Minnesota 4-0 - thereby opening a window for the possible signing of Ryan Johnson.
That's funny.
Related to misunderstandings, this reminds me of a very old SNL sketch called "Slapped by Beaver Tails"
It was a panel discussion led by Victoria Jackson featuring stories of people who were literally slapped by beaver tails. The first two guests had stories about swimming or whatever and their stories about how they were slapped by beaver tails with photos or physical evidence like the imprint of a beaver tail across their face or torso. Sorry, its been a long time and this is from memory without checking YouTube. The third panelist was Phil Hartman - dressed in an all black cowboy get-up with black leather chaps and black cowboy hat. Victoria Jackson asks to him to tell his story and he stands up, and says - "I'm sorry, I think I may have misunderstood the intent of your program" - and walks out.
Depends on how you view the AHL team, and how confident you are in your team's ability to develop prospects. If, "not very", is the answer, then leave him with the Gophers, who have a decent coach and program. I don't think Johnson is too good for the NCAA at this point, nor is he ready for the NHL. He has all kinds of speed, but needs to process the game better and faster, and, like most young players, get stronger.Eh, I would like him to take one more year at UM before signing. He had developed nicely this year, duplicate that and then turn pro.

He certainly could play in the AHL next year, or even now, especially in it's diluted state.

Maybe keep him out of the line of fire, is what you're saying? I like Motzko at the U. They are still recovering from the Lucia years, IMO, but are getting there. Johnson could do worse than stay there for another year.I’m very firmly in the “not very” realm of things with this organization.
One upside to signing him now is saving everyone the drama of "he's going to leave as a UFA!!!!!!"
