Any chance he turns into a Kuznetsov type?
I would put that down as extremely unlikely. He got compared to Backes at the draft. Maybe Vladimer Kuznetsov can turn into a Korshkov type player. He seems to fit what I wanted out of the 31 pick (a big hard working, decent IQ Left shot winger). Was hoping for Benson or Katchouk, but I'll defer to Hunter, Vuori, Berman and Ladygin on this one. For people who have watched a lot of him, is he primarily a RWer? Or does he occasionally play on the left?

I will, but since my day contains only 24 hours, it would be good if you'd do the homework by at least checking his stats on khl.ru from time to time. Not to mention that KHL is a well televised league and Lokomotiv is a good team, so it is better to see it from time to time rather than just reading some stats and reports. ;)

I definitely keep up with stats on all Leafs prospects. I meant moreso for actually information on him as you would probably be more privy to this (in terms of contract, ice time, relationship with org, etc).

I try to watch as many games as possible during the year involving Leafs prospects (I watched a lot of London, Shawinigan, Kitchener, Rouyn-Nouranda and Frolunda games last season). I'll have to watch some more KHL this season.

Does the KHL website stream the games for free?

Nope, I guess you'll need to search for some of the streams that can't be posted here.

Any chance becomes a Kulemin type of player? From what I have read his game sounds vaguely similar and they are both overage 2nd roudners the Leafs have taken. I'd be satisfied if he become a player of that calibre.

I think he is in that mold of player.

11 points through 18 games in the 2nd best league in the world. He's got like 9 in his last 8 games. Nice hands, great passing from the two games I've caught and still slight for his 6'4 frame. That pick caught me off guard but the early return is looking promising.

Yeah, he's got some nice highlights already. Only plays about 13:30 minutes per game, which is a tad surprising considering the production level (1 point off from leading the team in points)

If Lokomotiv will change their coach to more offensive one, Korshkov's line would get much more ice-time.
I hate hockey style of their current coach, because he wants Lokomotiv to play like him during his player career.

I'll definitely take that scoring pace from a 20 year old in the KHL not logging big minutes. Was definitely a noodle scratcher of a pick for everyone but it looks like there's definitely some potential with this kid.

Kaprizov has 19 points in 23 games, being 1 year younger and 135 pick overall, but Korshkov isn't bad as well. Not sure why does Toronto need another winger, but it's a different story...

I don't get it, why? Canadians don't watch WJC's anymore? He was the best player on Russian team, at least among forwards.

Kaprizov was drafted in 2015. Leafs' investment in Russian scouting picked up in 2016 and a lot of 2015 draftees were picked in 2016 draft. The 2015 draft was really strong. Korshkov also plays on the 3rd/4th line and is a different player than Kaprizov. Leafs need a player who can win puck battles and YK has that potential and needs more lower body strength.

We just have a bias towards players who are 18. YK was drafted as 20 year old.

I don't get it either. In my book drafting 20 year old is less crapshoot than 18 year old.

theory being a 20 year old doesn't have as much development left where as a 18 year has more and therefore could be a higher ceiling player. SO the 20 year old may be more likely to reach the NHL (say 3rd liner) the 18 year old could a higher skill player (say a 1st liner). I don't really agree with especially after the start to the season Korshkov has had he Sounds really good, i have not seen him play though.

Different teams, different roles. Yet Korshkov is putting up really good numbers for the opportunities he's getting, already surpassed last year's totals. Kaprizov is going to be excellent but they were taken in different drafts.

Also, even though there's a lot of wingers in the pipeline doesn't mean they'll just stop selecting them, especially when they have like 10 or 11 picks in a draft.
