RW Yegor Chinakhov (2020, 21st, CBJ)

Yeah, there is some drama there but each side has its own story so we will never find out the real truth probably.

I really dont trust anything that comes out of the KHL they were saying Podkolzin is a terrible player in Jan and then singing his praises this month.

If Chinakhov thinks, he's ready to play in the NHL, then he'll be disappointed.

judging from his highlights as well as his play at the WJC, I would agree he's not NHL ready. However it looks like a bridge is being burnt between him and the KHL team, so he may have no other option to return back to the KHL for a season.

He might be stuck with AHL duty, which he probably won't be a fan of.

It's the same as any other league. NHL talking heads said Ovechkin is done in 2017 because his mom stopped sending him doping... I guess not trusting anything is not the worst option.

Keep in mind he was playing through a bad knee injury that occurred in the early part of the WJC. You could see he lost his agility, and that's why he was on the shelf for so long after the tournament.

I think he'll be NHL capable, he's a fast and diligent player. But I'm hoping he goes to the AHL to develop his offense.

Probably he left too early. Instead he should have followed the career path or Panarin and Kaprizov. It has been time and time again proven to be the best model for Russians. Only leave to NA once you are an established star play in Russia.

So last year he was picked too early based on most assessments, but then goes on to have a great rookie year in the KHL. Has he earned the #21 draft pick spot in last NHL draft? If he were drafted in the upcoming 2021 NHL draft, where might he be drafted?

Maybe he jumps a few spots but I think still around where he went. That draft is tracking pretty good.

Well, for starters, he was picked so early because he was already having a great rookie year in the KHL at the time of the draft. If the 2020 draft wasn't in October he wouldn't have gone in the 1st round.

Secondly, his season was good but not anything amazing. Pretty sure he would go late in the 1st regardless as it really depends where does the interested team is picking. Most teams just pick their guy (that's what happened here as well), they don't look to trade down from 21st to 23rd just because they in theory can.

From his email interview with Portzline it sounds like he's over in NA to stay regardless of if he makes the CBJ or not next year. Meaning he would accept an AHL assignment potentially.
