The most competitive tournamenyt is the Olympics. The NHL is a foreign league and the cup of it is a foreign trophy. And this is also the league hurting that tournament with it's greed and egoism droven allures. And this is also the league hurting development of hockey in his own country.

Michkov's mistake is not being able to think further than his nose. That qualifies him as dumb. Other than that he makes no mistakes.

I will continue waiting for the first russian player to emerge. His emergence will mark the rebirth of russian hockey. Until then we will obviously have some more generations of Michkovs with those short-sighted, petty "dreams".

It's not about KHL, it's not about leagues, it's about proper priorities.

Olympics without NHLers aren't even on WHC level, which Znaroks and his team obviously proved...

Michkov has already won Youth Olympics Gold for Russia, and you still disrespect him and his dreams. Are you sure you care for Olympics that much?

this is nonsense. the level of competition in the olympics is terrible. it was the right decision by the nhl to not allow nhl players to participate in that atrocity of a tournament.

I disrespect his puny dreams and thus his assesment of his achievements, not his achievements.

Well, then you are the enemy of everything I call hockey and sport for that matter, real fair and international sport, not some money driven private nonsense.

The fact is that Stanley cup is the best competition available and the most prestigious achievement for any hockey player. I agree that Olympics should be the best instead, but it's not Michkov failure that it isn't. So IIHF, KHL and NHL officials are failed, and you blame 15 year old kid. May be this blaming is stupid?

No, it is not a fact, just something the NHL and it's propaganda is trying hard to shove down our throats. Sorry, I am not buying.

A foreign championship in a distant country will never interest me much or beyond taking note of how my fellow countrymen are doing there. They are not playing in front of me or for me. Sorry if you can not grasp the concept of sports being there for the fans.

It is not Michkov's fault. It's the NHL's fault. They sabotage Olympics.

Again, I don't blame Michkov. I blame his judgement, which is one of a 15 y.o.. I am aware of that.

I never expected any self analysis from you. Enjoy your views. Most of the world is sleepwalking and it works for them... somehow.
in the last two decades more often than not olympics have been just an excuse to stroke canadians's ego, that's how weak the competition in them was. it was both disgusting and pathetic to watch. killing them was an act of mercy from the nhl and to call it now the most competitive tournament in the world is pure craziness.

I don't know how you can blame anybody or their judgement? Not everyone is a homer or has to be . I can enjoy the English Premier league being in Canada or the NFL over the CFL even if they're not playing in front of me. Many others have this mentality as well, they want to play with the best and many young Russians idolize NHL players because they are from the best league and the league they want to play in.

Well, I don't understand the enjoyment of the EPL as a Russian. How many Russians play there? I don't care how many do watch EPL just for what actually? They are just strange people to me. There are way stranger fetishes though.

Come on bud, you need some rest. People are different, if someone has opinions that is not like your it doesn’t mean that he is dumb or has fetish. Moreover, it is very-very stupid to blame teenager for his words and dreams.
Just relax on quarantine and enjoy watching Michkov’s highlights instead of continuing the same narrative in every thread about russian prospects.

Opinions and fetishes are just points on a scale of deviations:eek::laugh:

I also stated that I am well aware of that opinion being one of a teenager. In fact I couldn't remember all my opinions I had at his age.

While my opinion remains quite firm. It is driven by a simple fact that I want the best possible hockey in my home arena, on my TV live at convenient tines and international hockey os still my favorite.

Your goal is to be contrarian and you are succeeding. Russians don't play in the Premier League because there are so very few capable of doing so...Golovin is capable if he so chooses. I am Canadian..the number of Canadians in the Premier league since I started watching in 94 would be very few...doesn't stop me from watching what many consider the best league in the world.

Putting words in my mouth won't help matters. I don't care about being contrarian or not. That's what you say. There are no Russians capabe of playing in the EPL, but what of it? Many conmsider it the best league. What of it? I am simply not interested in a league with no Russians in it, whether it is the best league or the best of the best league. If you like to watch a league based on whatever: the beauty of the sport(whatever it is, as sports is competition to me, not a matter of pure aesthetics) or feeling of being part of something popular, so be it. I just will never understand that.
