What a game from this kid. I didn’t see one bad pass or giveaway he was everytime and everywhere in full control of the game. On his very first shift he generated a high scoring chance for Demidov with a shot nobody expected. And it’s not like Zubov is giving him the time for free… he earned his spot on the first line and first PP unit. He played 3rd line minutes at the U18 and outscored everyone. Outscored everyone in the MHL and outscored every U20 in the KHL (PPG) and was the best U20 player at the EHT. The last draft eligible playing for team Russia was 2nd OA Svechnikov in his draft year and he was more or less a passenger on the 4th line. Yurov is the 13th forward as of now and Miro isn’t even on the team. Michkov is such a special talent.
svechnikov wasn't a passenger. he looked pretty good. it's not his problem that the head coach was a fogy and didn't give him ice time.

Kucherov “may be “ an elite NHL’er? Kucherov is an elite NHLer and I think you should watch more hockey.

Edit: like these guys comparing Mich to Yakupov:laugh:

I think you are taking the words too literally. It’s not meant to be read the way you are taking it. I was using a figure of speech to set up a point I was making. I agree he’s an elite player.

Svech played 10 min a game. As you say, what should he done during this time? I didn't say anything about its qualities.

Just wondering - not sure how the KHL contracts work. Is Michkov able to leave the KHL earlier or is he actually committed for the entirety of the contract until after 25/26 season?

He'll pay 2/3 of the buyout using the money he's earned, and borrow the rest against his future earnings.
And paying extra money for leaving to a foreign league younger than 23 years.

No. I guess he is not that stupid.

With a player like this money is NOT an issue. He has the choice to decide what he thinks is best for his career. If that is to stay a few years in Russia so be it, but if he wants to go to NHL he could do it. Personally I think he should stay at least his D+1 in Russia

I’d love to see this kid shoot targets. He looks like he’d be accurate with a blindfold

Kid is the most well rounded offensive prospect since Crosby. Hard to say if he's better than McDavid was, but his offensive repertoire is just so broad. McDavid's game was pretty simple - he was going to skate past you and score.

Michkov doesn't have the benefit of game breaking speed, but he's just as dangerous.

I guess it is feasible to buy out the last year of his contract. But that will mean that he played the first three years of his deal basically for free. I doubt a guy from a poor family will be so blase with the money he earned. Especially when nothing is set in stone in the NHL for him. If he doesn't make it, they will discard him like an old boot and it will be a hoot when he mentions any kind of compensation.

You are reading that sentence the wrong way and part of it is how tricky and screwed up the English language is but I'm pretty sure the way it reads is that Kuchkerov is an elite player but it's not due to skating.

someone more proficient in the finer points of grammar might be able to explain it better though.

It's literally saying "although" Kuch is an elite player (that's how the word "may" is being used)

I won't be surprised, if he shot the puck purposely to the goalie's head on the 2nd goal.

Just liked he willed the defender to crosscheck him on his first goal?

I know the stat line will say 2 goals and yes he was creative and driving the play to some extent but stat watchers will be more impressed than NHL scouts from that one game sample.

He is still the 1B for the 23 draft so don't get all excited.
