But there is no narrative in this case because I am not implying anything - I’m simply asking a question. A simple “no he will definitely want to go to the NHL once his contract is over” would have sufficed. I assume that’s the answer after all your ranting and raving?
The narrative is there because your question is there. If I asked you if the Moon will crash into Earth by tomorrow you would be surprised, because there is no indication or evidence that it might be a possibility. If you got asked that a hundred times over you would probably be more than surprised, most probably annoyed even, if only by the necessity of answering that same absurd question every time. I understand that it is not a single person's fault in the end. You ask those questions because your media bombards you with that narrative so you start to believe that there is smoke and ask about the fire.

So far every single russian prospect drafted in a somewhat promising range came over to NA at some point. For some that resulted in a NHL career(more or less successful)? for some it didn't, but they all came over.(There. I had to do it again. Answering that same strange question.)

What will it be for the most intriguing russian prospect since Ovechkin and Malkin?

I am not defensive, but rather tired of hearing the same (false) narratives over and over again. For some reason this one(about Russians not coming over or nor wanting to come over) is very persistent. I simply don't understand why people keep bringing this up, because there is no empirical data to back it up. But it seems you are the one who gets emotional over nothing here.

Those times are long gone. Talking about "Russian factor" as a factor, is living 10 years in the past.

Russian Ruble was double as worthy at ~2013 (mod). Then there was 50% dip on value and since then KHL hasn't been able to pay big bucks for their players. Year-by-year, the KHL economy power has been going down. NHL is gonna go up.

NHL money currently and especially in the future, will be superior, and that's why every Russian star will come to NA.

Money, money, money.

Some 4th line level players (Dmitry Jaskin etc.) could choose KHL before NHL, but not becoming superstars, like Michkov.

4.NHL money has quite little to do where Russians want to play. It is sports after all. No matter how you cut it as of now the NHL is the best league with the best players. If you are good enough, you eventually want to play there with some very few odd exceptions for some odd personal reasons. I would love there to be more than one league on that level to have the hockey development more balanced and the NHL stripped of that status, because as most monopolies NHL uses it for no good. As for pure money The best players would make way more in the NHL, but some Russians who play some minor roles inthe NHL would probably make the same or more in Russia. For them it is literally not about the money. Believe me for say Barabanov getting a bigger contract in Russia than his 1Mil deducted the California taxes is as easy as making a phone call.

All players say right things... I mean, almost all save some weirdos like Bryzgalov.

But Michkov sounds somewhat refreshing. He says right things with such a tone... as though it's an absolute and indisputable truth. At least for him.

Every once in a while I click on this thread as it shows updated posts and I hope to actually hear about Michov but sadly this time like most others it’s about something else.

I used to have better luck reading about Michov in the Bedard thread might go check there.

Can’t wait to see Michov at the WJHC.

His lateral movement and edgework is incredible. His straight ahead speed could use some work, but it's not a liability.

Just get a biomechanic and skating expert and he will improve in that regard as well. He wants to be the best and has that ethic to do so unlike some of his former compatriots who had the talent but not the work ethic. Superstars in all sports are not just talented. They work extremely hard and practice, practice and practice. The more I practice the luckier I get is the oft quoted maxim. But it's all about the practice.

His skating is fantastic

He is going to torch the WJC, can't wait to see it
I don’t think anyone would call him a fantastic skater. He has good edges and shiftiness but that’s about it. It hasn’t held him back so far so maybe it never will but as the competition gets older/stronger and faster it will be interesting to see if he can keep up.

He's already played in the KHL and mens national team with no problems keeping up

Hand raise. I’d call Michkov a fantastic skater. As others have said, edge work and agility are elite. His top speed is still above average for a kid who turned 17 this month. Skating is certainly not a weakness, it’s a strength.

They call Kaprizov a fantastic skater despite he isn't the fastest one. Skating isn't just about speed.

Hope China pospones the Olympics, and then Michkov will probably have a chance to participate in them. Not a big chance, of course, but better than nothing.

Russia is plenty stacked at wing as it is. What I'm curious about though is whether Kuznetsov's ban would expire if Olympics are postponed.

So he can’t come over to the NHL until he’s what 23? This kid is gonna torch the KHL in his early 20s

I love how confident he is. Always wants the puck, this kid looks like he is gonna torch the nhl when he finally gets here.
