wonder if current situation happening in Russia rn changes his mind and he decides to stay in North America
That was my thinking. He probably won't stay but if this uprising changes the structure of power there then it won't be long before Russia is a part of international competition again.

 That's great! Probably an unfathomable idea in your eyes, but maybe the kid who's put together arguably the best prospect resume in Russian history doesn't f***ing need to 'change his game'? There's enough Ryan Smiths to dump the puck in, battle near the boards and get the pucks on net.
Someone’s triggered.

Nichushkin and Podkolzin had better resumes. There’s these kids named Fedorov, Bure and Mogilny who blew anything this kid has, out of the water. Have you ever watched him play an actual game?? He’s a perimeter player in a league that isn’t what it was 5-6 years ago. The NHL isn’t roller hockey. You have to play in traffic to score. You have the create space. Not just play in it. That’s what he does. Watch him play a full game. Not just a highlight reel. There’s a reason he’s dropping.

Go ahead… Tell us what NHL players succeed playing this game? Find me a highlight where he has the first step to make a guy miss on the outside?

The same people fall for this time and again, but are never around when the player busts.

It’s been the concern with him since day one. Nothing has changed. He’s an outside player. There’s a reason he signed the contract he did. Bedard would’ve been one of the best players in the KHL last season. A league where Steven Kampfer was one of the best Dmen two years ago.

So hopefully you’re just as triggered if he busts.

 Felt no need to read further. Some guys!
Well, so far I’ve been right about everything for months on the kid. It’s played out exactly how I said it would too. It was laughable that he’d overtake Bedard, he wouldn’t be chosen ahead of Carlsson or Fantilli, and as I’ve said for months, he would probably drop outside of the Top 5 and we shouldn’t be surprised if he drops outside of the Top 10.

Where have I been wrong on him?? Since the lottery, it’s pretty much been, if he gets by San Jose, he could very well drop outside of the Top 7. It’s basically been San Jose or Washington. That’s not a “Generational Talent.” That’s teams and scouts wanting to see him create space this season and stop relying on his shot from the outside. Two things he just hasn’t done. It was inevitable he’d drop from #2.

Haven’t you found it interesting he’s dropped like he has already, if he was this supposed “Generational Talent?”

Both of those players, especially Nuchushkin, was supposed to be a generational talent too. Both had NHL strength too. There is no way Michkov is anywhere near the KHL ten years ago, when the league was by far, the 2nd best league in the world, as Nichushkin did. Podkolzin tore up the U18s and had the NHL strength and frame.

Never once have I said he’s not extremely skilled. Just that his game doesn’t work in the NHL. It’s completely understandable if a team thinks they can fix that. Happens all the time. Detroit thought they could fix Zadina from playing that game. But for anyone to suggest he’s not going to be “Boom or Bust” is ridiculous at this point.

Nice copypasta, let me try.

Someone’s triggered.

Drouin and Dal Colle had better resumes. There’s these kids named Sakic, Yzerman and Iginla who blew anything this kid has, out of the water. Have you ever watched him play an actual game?? He’s a slow player in a league that isn’t what it was 5-6 years ago. The NHL isn’t roller hockey. You have to skate fast to score. You have to create space. Not just play in it. That’s what he does. Watch him play a full game. Not just a highlight reel. There’s a reason he’s dropping.

Go ahead… Tell us what NHL players succeed playing this game? Find me a highlight where he has the first step to make a guy miss on the outside?

Eichel would’ve been one of the best players in the OHL last season. A league where Ryan Sproul was one of the best Dmen two years ago. So hopefully you’re just as triggered if he busts.

Once again, someone doesn’t want to talk about the elephant in the room. That he’s strictly an outside player.

I don't know many outside players who get a significant portion of their goals by cutting to the middle to let out a quick release or finding a puck in traffic and shooting it.

Guess I know one now

Everything that I've learnt from Darryl Sutter, Keenan, and Therrien tells me that he needs to learn how to play the right way by using his minuscule frame to grind in a plodding physical and defense-oriented system. The kid clearly has no future.

Once again. We’ll see. That’s the greatest thing about arguing about prospects.

You don't need to wait for him coming to NHL to understand he's not a perimeter player...

I'd say it's exactly the opposite. For someone who is physically underdeveloped he loves to go for physical contacts a little bit too much. He should be more cautious, especially given he plays against fully grown men.

Wait a second here. What U18 did Podkolzin tear up?
He had 4 points in 7 games his draft year at the u18. Nichushkin never tore it up either.
Both Nichushkin and Podkolzin were never considered generational. Not even close.

You’re entitled to your opinion about Michkov.
But stop telling lies and historical inaccuracies in an attempt to justify it.

The contract is still valid no matter what happens in Russia. It would have to be himself who buys it out, or the NHL team that picks him would have to give him money under the table to buy himself out.
Bedard would’ve been one of the best players in the KHL last season.

Not necessarily. FIFA ruled that players who signed in Russia could leave after they invaded Ukraine even if they had valid contracts.

The IIHF could make the same ruling if things transpire a certain way.

Those who wanted to leave the league, left it. Even with valid contracts. Those who said they couldn't leave because they had valid contracts, actually didn't wanna leave.

bro really came in and starting revising history - nobody claimed Nichushkin was generational leading up to the 2013 draft
