This talking about NA experience ruining Russian prospects is a bit moronic. If there is real talent they will okay, if not, avoiding comming to there at young age will not helps much. As simple as that
He should be expected to come play wherever he is drafted once his current contract is done.Would Michkov come over to play for Arizona?
The ones that stay in KHL until 22-24 tend to come over and contribute right away. Hard to blame people for preferring that proven development path. This talking about NA experience ruining Russian prospects is a bit moronic. He should come but will he if it’s to Arizona? He might choose to stay in Russia until he has one year left to free agency in that case. Then have a big year in Arizona and pick his club.He should be expected to come play wherever he is drafted once his current contract is done.
He is not being talked about as if he was "most rookies". He is being talked about as if he is a lock to be an elite , if not generational player. If he wasn't Russian and/or wasn't under contract he would probably be taken right after Bedard, and more thought would be given to him being taken 1st. Those guys often play in the NHL right away, and certainly in the D+2 or D+3 years. Those years represent missed opportunities for teams, and management is judged harshly for failure. GM's are highly conscious that the clock is ticking, and have zero interest in leaving the cupboard stocked for their predecessor, when they can pick another player almost as good(Carlsson, Fantilli, Smith) that will probably be contributing to the team in their D+2 year, if not sooner. He’ll be 21 when he comes over, which is about the age most rookies are when they play. I get they don’t have control over his development for 3 years, but I’d imagine it will still be worth it easily.
I agree for those 3, but I think when you start picking between Michkov and Dvorsky/Benson/Leanord/etc is when you start to weigh risk reward. The GM is a failure if he is too scared to pick Michkov out of fear he will get fired before he comes over over guys who aren't NHL ready for another 2-3 years. He is not being talked about as if he was "most rookies". If Michkov shows signs he will come to the NHL it is possible that the KHL team he plays for purposefully play him like 2,3 minutes per games. I might also be wrong. He’ll be 21 when he comes over, which is about the age most rookies are when they play. Arizona is going to look very different in three years. He should come but will he if it’s to Arizona? He might choose to stay in Russia until he has one year left to free agency in that case. Then have a big year in Arizona and pick his club.
To add to that, Fedotov was specifically accused of buying a fake military ID from a former cop, right? And Kaprizov apparently bought one from the same guy.I can see that in a deleted offtopic conversation Fedotov's example was brought up as a counter argument to that and it is legit, so I would like to address it hoping I will be careful enough so it won't slip into OT or politics again. So for the only one Fedotov case so far we have:
2022 offseason: Marchenko, Askarov, Morozov, Kuzmenko, Trineyev, Kisakov, Zhuravlyov, Pashin (and almost Dronov, but in the last moment he decided against signing).
2023 offseason signings so far: Voronkov, Miroshnichenko, Groshev, Svechkov, Chibrikov, Romanov, Misyul, Neuchev.
Just in case, four guys from these lists were signed from the SKA organization.
Fedotov's situation is obviously a shitshow, but it can't outweigh all these guys if we use at least some logic. Even more, Fedotov's situation made all the prospects understand that they need to be careful about their student status (as it makes one immune from the army conscription) and Michkov himself told in an interview that this year he is finishing school and is planning to become a student.
No, Fedotov hasn't done that, you're probably confusing him with Mikhail Vorobyov, who was found guilty of that. As for the uncertainty, I think even if not diving into politics I'm not sure anyone can be certain of anything nowadays, however you still have to evaluate probabilities and make plans accordingly and that applies to NHL franchise management too.To add to that, Fedotov was specifically accused of buying a fake military ID from a former cop, right? The Fedotov situation is scary and concerning but unless Michkov also has an illegal ID I don’t see how that situation applies to him.
To me, the real concern isn’t necessarily the 3 year KHL contract. It’s what impact could the Russia-Ukraine war have regarding his ability to move to the US/Canada 3 years from now. So indirectly, the contract can be problem but more so because of uncertainty surrounding Putin and the war and less so because a team won’t have developmental control over him for 3 years.
Why’d Fedotov get detained and sent to the Arctic circle as part of the Russian navy then? These articles would suggest he was caught up in the fake military ID thing too.No, Fedotov hasn't done that, you're probably confusing him with Mikhail Vorobyov, who was found guilty of that. Simply if there would be a fake military ID Fedotov wouldn't go to army, but would be facing charges like Vorobyov did. First link is based on rumors that were later denied - it is from the first days of that situation, so it is not surprising, as a lot of conflicting info were out there these days. Second link talks about Fedotov's trial, which was the trial about his lawyer's appeal on the conscription procedures that they later decided to withdraw. Why’d Fedotov get detained and sent to the Arctic circle as part of the Russian navy then? UPDATE: Philadelphia Flyers player Ivan Fedotov detained in Russia ´for fake military ID´.
Reports: Flyers Prospect Ivan Fedotov on Trial in Russia, Vorobyev Pleads Guilty
False? Inaccurate? You’re there so if you have further details on why Fedotov was detained and sent to serve in the military, I’d love to hear it.
It is not a tournament, just a series of exhibition games, I don't think there's any webpage for the stats or whatever you're looking for.Anyone have the webpage for whatever tournament Belarus and Russia U25 is playing right now?
You didn’t actually answer my question. And it is about Michkov, specially how likely the Fedotov situation could also happen to Michkov. That’s why I want to know more about Fedotov’s situation.Simply if there would be a fake military ID Fedotov wouldn't go to army, but would be facing charges like Vorobyov did. I'd like to remind that this thread is not about Fedotov, so let's stop here and return to Michkov.

Your question was about if these links were false/inacurate and I think I answered that by analyzing the content, was there something that I missed? You didn’t actually answer my question. This was posted on the Sabres board a half-hour ago. I can't check out Youtube while at work so I'm not sure it's active or much of anythingAnyone have the webpage for whatever tournament Belarus and Russia U25 is playing right now?
Michkov, Glotov and the U25 Russians in another exhibition right now -

Best I could muster upI was watching the game for Michkov, and I was wondering if there was a lineup sheet.
yet, Fedotov didn't serve in the army. It's obvious he bought some kind of document that allowed him not to be conscripted. He wasn't the only one who did it, but they threw the book at him and not the others.Your question was about if these links were false/inacurate and I think I answered that by analyzing the content, was there something that I missed?
As for the main difference between Michkov and Fedotov is that Fedotov didn't have a student's status (and therefore the immunity from the conscription) and Michkov, judging by his interview, will have it at least until 2027.

The main question was why Fedotov got detained and why his situation may or may not pertain to Michkov. Which you answered in the 2nd paragraph. Thank you. This is the first I’ve ever heard of the “student status” aspect of it.Your question was about if these links were false/inacurate and I think I answered that by analyzing the content, was there something that I missed?

Which is precisely the point I made in post 1460 of this thread…Well, is Michkov going to break the law by purchasing a fake military ID like Fedotov did?
Probably not? Okay then.
Then Caser said the military ID stuff wasn’t even accurate regarding Fedotov. The Fedotov situation is scary and concerning but unless Michkov also has an illegal ID I don’t see how that situation applies to him.
