same here, although it's been split between KHL, VHL and MHL. I have always enjoyed watching Russian hockey, lots of skill and they always seem to have hot cheerleaders at every game.
Russian Women are beautiful and love the hockey too

It all depends on what teams you watch. Torpedo and Sochi are real speedsters so the game was very fast. Some teams play way slower and more defensive hockey. And overall KHL isn't even close to NHL in physical aspect.
You can say that if you want but I think the game is faster in the KHL with a lot more puck control rather than the NHL's dump and chase

Thought I'd look him up. I thought he had a 2 point game and was at a real .ppg pace (you know where divide games played by points and not pick and chose which games you use).

that's an amazing pace and I'm starting to think he's going to finish the season at a .ppg. That would be amazing and pretty unheard of.

Then I looked at under 19 players in KHL.. I thought he'd be a lone but there are a few guys scoring

He's killing it so far.

I don't understand why the Sharks, Canadiens and Coyotes past on him. He should have been at worst 4th OA.

I think the Habs looked it at as do you really want to have a top line of Caufied and Michkov plus Suzuki or Dach. Maybe they could work in the playoffs but I don't know if I would try it since you have 2 undersized forwards that don't defend well.

Teams drawing up big plans for three-four years down the line and thinking themselves into a pretzel based on how big and small their young players are. 5D chess that breaks puny brains.

it would be foolish not to take into consideration what you already have.

Would probably have been picked 2nd if not for the 5 years deal he signed, but on the other hand, it won't matter much on his career income whether he comes over or not.

TBL won 2 cups having big, tough, and nasty top forwards like Kucherov, Stamkos and Point.

right, teams can win a cup a bunch of different ways, but having Caufield and Michkov in your top 6 is not on the same planet as having 2 of the best players in the world plus Stamkos and maybe the best goalie in the league and so many other players.

Michkov is going to be better than any TBL forward though. Yeah even better than Kucherov.

I think your logic makes sense but I think the Habs passed on michkov because they didn't like something about the player or his game.

Not saying they were right in passing on him, or that I agree with the decision, but if the team really felt strongly that he was a generational type player with the personality to match they would have figured out the roster issues later.

Either that or they really have no clue what they're doing.

Its better to have Michkov and Caufield on your top-6 then not having Michkov there.
It was political and... hype decision and it looks like they are doing it second year straight. I liked Slaf a lot, I liked and like him more than Wright now and in the moment and even way before the draft. But it looks like mtl are making very emotional choices by their high picks, not because they are outscouting players. Because LITERALLY "they didnt saw him by themselves"(c) and, may be im wrong, but I dont think so, Michkov said that mtl asked him about wing and left/right handed shot. Its bad.

Only 3 Russian players have scored at least 1 point-per-game (min. 30 games) in the top Russian/Soviet league in their 19-year-old season in the past 50 years:

Pavel Bure '91 - 1.05
Vladimir Krutov '80 - 1.05
Evgeni Malkin '06 - 1.02

Will Michkov be the 4th to do it?

Kaprizov (.86) and Kuznetsov (.84) have come the closest in the KHL era.
