not so speedy and physical. his iq is a bit better and what shot? in my view viewings of him i didn't see no shot at all

if you were trying to convince me not to draft him in the first round you succeeded, why would someone take this kind of prospect so early?

Because he played well in 1 tournament and he'll get overrated because of it.

Ranked #13 at the latest Bob McKenzie's scout survey. So yeah, injury makes him a bit sliding down in the rankings.

I mean, I get him sliding, but there is no way he is a 2nd rounder as some suggest, especially in this class. The guy is really talented.

People have to keep in mind that he is playing for a loaded organization with limited spots in KHL and VHL. Neither needed a 17-year-old, even a talented one.

His VHL team won the title.

According to Kostin's agent Dan Milstein he is healthy now and will be there at the Combine, also told that all teams showed interest.

I wonder if he will be making the jump to Kootenay next year or if he's sticking to the KHL?

I think I've read sometime ago that Kostin's father told that Kostin didn't like the fact that he was drafted by them, so that was one of the reasons he decided to stay.

I guess a trade else where would be beneficial to Kootenay (assets back in return of a player who isn't going to play there) and to Kostin, too - well, the team that drafts him anyways (will be able to develop him closer to NA).

I don't know if it is realistic now - he signed with Dynamo and there is a rumor that they will face financial difficulties next season, so I'm not sure if they will be willing to let a cheap talented player to just leave to CHL like that.

I think Kostin would be well served staying another two years in Russia at least. He's a big guy, he doesn't benefit much from going to CHL. Guy needs to learn to play against men.

Don't blame him. If he's a one and done and then going to the AHL, why go to the absolute worst team probably in the whole CHL?

Just some more gifs, in case anyone is interested:

Unless you have the speed and finesse with the puck of Pavel Bure (and I doubt anyone ever will again) it is a very bad idea to try to attack multiple defenders with the puck. This young man is going to get eaten alive at the NHL level trying to do these things.

The highlights are courageous displays of skill but stuff like this only works for so long against your peers.

And I really dislike the fact Kostin refused assignment to Kootenay. I know they're a bad team but sometimes you have to make the best of a unfavorable situation. Nail Yakupov had to go to a very bad Sarnia team only to get drafted by Edmonton and for all that losing by God I don't think the young man ever complained once. Since coming to the NHL he's tried and failed only to try and fail again. And yet he STILL refuses to give up and states he's not leaving the NHL. He may not end up being a big time 1st overall pick but that's at least the kind of attitude I'd want in my players.
