Thought I would bump this thread and see if anyone has seen the kid play, pretty interested in how he has been doing, I look at his point totals and am a little underwhelmed.
He plays in the Worst team in League history. They just made new record of not scoring goals in 14 games and will make new record of least goals in season after season is done.
Only thing they do is lose by blow-out against any one. They flat out tank and sold all the best players. Even the other youngster Artturi Lehkonen. Only reason Kasperi Kapanen didni't go because he's father is the owner and wont sell him unless he wants to. Even their GM said that this is for next season and that basically meant its gone for this season.
This is why I wouldn't look too much about the point totals.
Wow lol did not know that I am pretty excited for this player wonder if he will be a faller like teravainen, would you say he is close or on the same level as nylander?
Nylander is a bit ahead. A little better skating and vision. Kapanen should switch teams for the betterment of his development, my prediction is that he will drop out of the top 15 for sure.

No way Nylander has better skating than Kapanen. No way, I've talked with a lots of scouts and they've all said that Jake Virtanen/Kasperi Kapanen is the best skater in this draft class. Nylander isn't bad skater by any means but Kapanen is explosive, you can really see who his dad is.
Nylander's skating looked a lot better than Kapanen's at the U17 WC, haven't seen Kapanen play since.
Don't agree at all. I've seen Kapanen, Nylander (and Virtanen) play multiple times besides all the other 2014 draftees and Virtanen is the only one I'd say is ahead of Kapanen in terms of skating. Nylander is great skater too but he's not it the same level with Kapanen.
Haven't watched Nylander, but Kapanen's skating is really strong and it's one of hes strenghts. It Nylander can outdo that, good for him, because it doesn't mean Kapanens skating wouldn't be good.
I still disagree that Nylander is the superior skater but whatever.
In the last 3 of Kapanen's games there has been scouts from Winnipeg, Pittsburgh and Phoenix. With today's assist Kapanen has 2+2 in his last 3 games and he has been every night his team's best player.
I think Kapanen is definetly not a TOP10 Draft. Or at least he shouldn't be. His name gives him a lot of extra. Hope he leaves KalPa and Kuopio after this season for the sake of his development, doubt it though..

He will be better than Armia.

They are close. Nylander has higher potential but Kapanen is safer pick. Nylander is better playmaker, Kapanen better goal scorer. Nylander is a bit better defensively, Kapanen has better physicality. Both are extremely flashy players. IMO Nylander will go from 5 to 10 in the draft and Kapanen will go from 7 to 15.
If they both reach their potential then absolutely not (if Armia "figures it out"). Not really sure on which one I'd bet money right now.
nope
nope
From the 5 first rounder forwards weve had i think Kasperi has best chance to get to reach his potential. Granlund was small and bad skater so there was big questions over him. Teräväinen is physically weak and how he adapts small ice is uncertain. Barkov is shy and has zero aggression or selfishness in him which might not be ideal and Joel Armias compete level and attitude have always been questioned. Kapanen has it all, his even got better bloodlines than Barkov coming from Kapanen clan. Excellent compete level, excellent skating, excellent hands, hockey iq, shot etc etc. His upside in terms of offense is lowest out of Granlund/Teräväinen/Barkov/Armia but i think overall package is best. His in mold of the old prototypical finnish forwards ala Sami Kapanen, Jere Lehtinen, Niko Kapanen and co.
Don't really agree about "having it all". And if your stating that Kapanen will be better than Granlund or Barkov for that matter, then woah? All I can say if it was anywhere close to being reality, he would be in top3 without a question in next draft (which is in general regarded pretty soft). If he actually was this good he wouldn't have been outshadowed by Lehkonen regardless of the age difference. Some of you guys need to put things into realistic perspective. What's actually agreeable here, is that everyone of the names mentioned before have their weaknesses. We're not talkin about generational prospects/players after all.
