Got also one assist. 22+16 in 45 games. 0.84 PPG as an U18 player. Best since Barkov (also Mi. Granlund ahead).

Where would I find the list of the best PPG and best point total/best goals scored for U18 players? A quick google has failed me.

p.s. what a goal, and what a record. I can't wait to see this kid play in the NHL.

Tied 4th in goals this season with 45 games played. And to think that Kakko got hes last 19 goals in hes last 26 games. Way to finnish the season!
That's tied 6th, not 4th. There are five players who have more than 22 goals. Kakko is tied 6th with two other players.

Still an amazing achievement. Just wanted to correct that information.

Kakko scored 19 goals in his last 26 games. That is about half of a season in Liiga for draft eligible players because of WJC. That would be 38 goals in 52 games pace. Talk about progression during this season... I actually think he is even better playmaker by good margin.

I don’t even know what his ceiling is going to be. You can pair him with playmakers because he will shoot without hesitation or with shooters because he can create so much space and can find open men with absolutely disgusting passes. Like i said before the season started i like his skillset the most i have ever seen for draft eligible prospects in Finland. I hope he is going to continue his explosive developement further and make impact in the NHL next year! He still need to gain little strength, better two-way game and top speed.

Kaapo Kakko will be selected as a number one pic ainec. He is just getting better and better when Hughes is same than last year.

Kakko has higher ceiling, better hands, better size, better puck protection and a winner mentality

Just scored his 22nd goal. Kakko's kakkoskakkos goal :sarcasm:

The evolution of Kaapo's name could go as follows:

Kaapo Kakko
Kaako Kakkonen
Kaapo Ykkönen
Kaapo Yksi

For the non Finns, Kakkonen means the number two while both ykkönen and yksi means number one. That would be a better name for him since many here have started to think that he is actually better player than Jack Hughes.

If Kaapo ends up #2 pick it's still quite funny that he's name is almost Kakkonen. I actually never even thought about that before.

Also I'm surprised that no one here mentioned that Kaapo Kakko is #1 in Sportnet.ca's new NHL draft prospect rankings. I know that there is another thread about it but looks like the tides are beginning to shift. There's a video inside with the explanation of Kakko being #1 in their ranking and an interesting comparison to Laine, Rantanen and Kotkaniemi's last seasons in the Finnish elite league:

I don't think its "AINEC". Also Hughes for sure has better hands. I love Kakko too but don't be so biased.

Kakko's hands are his best attribute.
He has amazing hands, I'm not denying that. I'm just saying Jack Hughes has amazing hands as well and I believe that his are better than Kakko's based on the games I've watched from both players. Im not knocking Kakko at all, Hughes just has unreal hands.

Westerholm lost track on Kakko for a blink because Otto Nieminen's stick hit Westerholm right up to the goalie mask. SaiPa rightfully challenged it for goalie interference but for some reason the refs called a good goal.

You can see it @ 1:53
Maybe it's just me wanting to give Kakko more credit for that goal but it looked to me in the replay that the goalie looked first his left and saw Kakko moving to the right side but Kakko stopped and waited for the goalie look back to the left side and then he himself finally went right side for the goal.

I had to make myself a video about this kid.

I have used materials already existing on youtube.

from Hockey prospects center, puck prodigy, hokitime and top shelf hockey. oh and from the guy Kaako Kappo on this forum, videos that you have posted here <3

hope you all like it!

Everyone always talks about how Kakko's not as good of a skater (in terms of speed and acceleration) as Hughes, but has anyone considered that Kakko could become a f***ing rocket if he wanted to in a few years time?

Bigger players tend to take a while to get better at skating... But sheesh, his agility is high end. If you don't believe...

Edgework is fine, covers his 1st step. The worst thing you can say is that he’ll have to migrate from skinny fat to cut, which is a function of time and nutrition.

Over the 1st 7 years of his contract, Kakko will have slightly better production. If you’re looking for yrs 18-29, I’m rolling with Kakko all the way.

Jeeze, you guys. You're too fast. I had planned to release my Kakko package today, but because you've both released yours today, I'll schedule it for tomorrow. I've spent about a week on it.
