He put in a very disappointing defensive effort yesterday. The first 2 Moncton goals were a reflection of him not even trying to approach the puck carrier. It seems as if he’s letting the new additions to the team do all the heavy lifting and he’s just been out there playing sniper when they get him the puck. Yes he’s still producing points but man I cursed him a couple times yesterday
He went ahead and got himself five apples on Saturday :)

Yes and he was caught standing still a number of times while the Seadogs netted a converted touchdown. My post acknowledged that he’s still putting up points. I don’t expect him to stop putting up a huge amount through the remainder of the season.

Perfect example of a player who should be AHL-eligible at 19.
I think two years before he’s physically able to compete against men. Still not quick enough to accelerate away from contact. Not big enough to absorb contact.

Nah, given the reported flaws in his game aside from offense, he's stuck in the middle.

Has enough skill he's too skilled for the Q, but not a good enough, well rounded game for the A

I wish he could play in the AHL next year because it would force him to adapt.

I think he's a lot stronger and quicker than he tends to show in the Q. In Jackets' camp he was zipping around and taking contact well. Back in the Q, I'd agree that he looks loafy. But when you can score 5 points and win in the Q without moving, why bother? Is his job to look projectable or to put points on the board for the Mooseheads?

It’s a pleasure to have him on my home town team. I hope he’s the MVP of the league the Presidents Cup and the Memorial Cup. I wish he would have been on the Canada WJC U-20 team. That would have been awesome. My son and I watch all of his games and the Mooseheads are good for an hour long chat every day. Hometown hockey is our passion and we’ve seen our fair share of talent come through the system since 1996. I don’t mind sharing my opinion here.

He's able.
Perhaps you are right. It’s been a very long time since the Vees Oilers and Citadels were here in Halifax. It was a really tough league back in the day. It’s probably changed considerably with the times. Jeramie Porier was one of the worst defenders I’ve every seen in the Q and now he’s rocking in the AHL. Perhaps Dumais could follow suit

Dumais is one of the worst defenders in the Q currently??

He's +40

My point is he needs a struggle. Even if he'd have a hard time that's good.

I watch Dumais lately and he just seems bored.

How can you be bored at 18 playing in one of the best teams in the CHL and having a chance at a championship?

I highly doubt he is. I don’t think he’s that kind of kid.

I don't think he's bored but he's winning games without breaking a sweat. It's like he's sitting on a chair ice fishing out there.

He's fast and very strong for a junior player and you almost never see it.

Just seems to me Dumais has mastered many aspects of the junior game and needs a new challenge, especially in an environment where he'll be pushed to get in the high traffic areas and backcheck more.

Bored probably not the right word. Not trying to smear him, as I'm a fan.

Do we ever see 19 year old juniors in this situation sign in Europe? Is there anything stopping Dumais from spending next year in Switzerland?

good "kid" (read young man), works hard
tremendous skill and tool set, skating is least of his issues, he is a good, fast and strong skater. Sure not CMCD level, but no one is.

I think its motivation problem, boredom is different.

------

One really should not look at his measuerement numbers, weak he is not.

I mean look at Alex DeBrincat, or Johnny Gaudreau. Brinksy is 5 foot 7 amd weighs 160 pounds.

I remembered lots of posters said that he needed to bulk up, to make it in the NHL...well.. he didnt need to, would have actually hurt his career if he'd taken that path

5th in all time Halifax Mooseheads points:

Yes I’m a big fan as well. It’s easy to get on the wrong side of this conversation. I still see a lot of Patty Kane in his game. He should study Patty’s game

He also looked bored at all the draft content last summer. Must be a resting bored face. Also it doesnt help that he gave me McDavid/Crosby kind of vibes in the interviews. Zero visible emotions, just very calm, uninterested and Canadian
