3rd in AHL points, league leader in assists while last in the top 20 points leaders in goals with 15. Passing skills are elite. Bracco should be up in the NHL by next season in a 3rd line and PP role.

Where though? Assuming Brown's gone who's spot does he take?

Moore and Petan are ahead of him.

I doubt he gets time until 2020.

There is literally no reason for Bracco to be in the NHL next season.

I think he's proved he can QB an AHL PP and I think that would likely translate to the Leafs 2nd unit but he still has room for improvement 5on5. Long term, Toronto is probably going to need Bracco to step into a big role on the Leafs much like Johssnon/Kapanen did this season so taking time to make sure he's totally NHL ready can't possibly hurt. On the other hand, rushing him into a big role and finding out he isn't ready can only hurt. Nic Petan is a perfect example and acquiring him can help shelter Bracco for another year as he continues to develop.

3rd in AHL scoring

Leading the AHL in assists

21 years old, soon to be 22. What’s his potential?

Seems like exactly the player Matthews needs on his wing.

Not next season but the following season.

It's amazing to me Leaf fans can watch the team destroy prospect after prospect by rushing them before management changed and then moan when management takes their time. Like were they not fans until this season or something? Even guys like Kapanen and Johnsson the team was super patient with. At this point they've proven this method works given how much talent they have developed for the Leafs.

Let's not forget just last season Bracco was scratched most games just trying to get him stronger for the league. Now he has played a big part in the team. Why not, as you said, give him another season and challenge him with focus on weaker area's of his game?

Defense, goal scoring, 5v5 play, etc. Babcock won't ever play someone in the bottom 6 who is meh defensively and can't penalty kill. Play him in all situations and ask him to be the teams best player. See how he handles it.

If he doesn't, give him another year after next. If he handles it like a champ, his confidence is sky high coming into camp the year after and he is ready.

He'll get the 2019 Moore, 2018 Johnsson and 2017 Kapanen treatment of lighting up the AHL and being a late season call up into the playoffs.

I agree. I don’t want him playing on the 4th line all season, if he’s earned it by january bring him up then. If 2 of Kappy, Brown and Nylander are gone maybe he gets a real shot in camp but I doubt it. Even Hyman could move back to the right side if they bring in a couple left wingers.

There's no way Bracco is spending another full year in the AHL. He has a shot to win some awards and possibly even lead the league in scoring. Very impressive, I really expect him to get a shot with the Leafs next season.

Every team passed on Bracco twice in his draft as he was the last pick of the second round. Some picks made over him will never sniff the NHL.

Yeah, he's going to be an NHL player just for his powerplay work. He's a monster with the man advantage. It'll be interesting to see how much he can develop the rest of his game

Now stands alone in first for AHL assists and overall points lead. He has the single season record for points for a Marlies player. He has 19 goals on a 16% shooting clip. He can probably work in some more shots instead of always going for the pass on 2 on 1's. He has also not been cherry picking for breakaways where he also excels and converts at a very high rate when 1 on 1 with the goalie.

His edgework in the offensive zone is super impressive. Creates lanes out of nothing given the sharp cuts he makes. Will/should produce points at the NHL level if played w skill. 2 way game has improved, but still a work in progress. Gotta clean up that aspect to get Babs trust.

He has a very unique skating style where he turns his skates out to 10 and 2 (or even fully parallel) more than any other player I have seen. This serves to make up for his lack of dynamic speed.

I see Bracco set the Marlies franchise record for points in a season. He was a prospect that you almost always expect to disappoint (high high skill, but some question marks around multiple facets of his game) and he's done nothing but impress. I give the Marlies' staff a lot of credit in how he's developed these last 2 seasons.

they weren't. Matthews played with Tkachuk and Roslovic. Bracco played primarily with Colin White.

Thank you. Quite the stacked roster for the program both that season and the previous one. Comparable to this year. Funny how the USA shifted from their best stars having birthdays post sept-15 to pre sept-15.

Finishes with a near 80 point sophomore season as a 22 year old in the AHL. Absurd production for any prospect.

He’s going to be a top 6 player with some of the best pure passing skills in the league. His playmaking is Marner level, but he needs to continue developing the rest of his game likes he’s done so well this past year.
