Is anyone here watching him? Does his style of play actually look to translate successfully to a top 6 NHL role?

Needs to improve his ES offense, but could run an NHL PP today. Probably not a bad 3rd line fwd right now. With a summer and half a season focusing on ES offense he can be a top 6 guy near end of next year

Just a hunch but I think this guy gets traded this summer.

We all know we need to move some money around. He's maybe some bait.

Also, I'd be pretty surprised if they don't try to snag a first for June. He may be involved in that.

unless you're attaching him to Marleau, and assuming Marleau is willing to waive in that case, I don't think you'll need to bait anyone to take Leaf players. The guys that are being discussed are on good contracts and are good NHL players - Brown, Kadri, maybe Kapanen or Johnsson

I guess if someone would eat Zaitsev then I'd buy it, but I think it's a lot more likely that Bracco is kept around as an inexpensive plug-in to the lineup for a few years while the core is at its most expensive. That might be especially viable if Nylander works at center as it frees up a RW spot:

Johnsson-Matthews-Bracco would probably be a good line with Bracco being a good zone entry & setup guy, the other two being good finishers and able to cover some of Bracco's defensive shortcomings

I think he's more likely the player that replaces the player we trade away. I'm not sure how receptive Kapanen would be to playing LW -where he is better suited- but a Kapanen-Matthews-Bracco line is at least intriguing.

I find it interesting that both you and @Randy Randerson have him playing with Matthews.

If he is a Leaf, that is exactly where I would have him. His playmaking setting up AM34, Yow!!

Not sure if Babs will like his defensive skills there though.

He's either on the leafs next year, or is traded.

I don't see him on the marlies regardless

Matthews, a LHS goal-scoring center should absolutely be playing with a RHS play-making RW that he can make forehand to forehand passes with. I don't know how Bracco's puck-carrying is, but he'll need to be a capable puck-carrier in order for it to work as a line. Right now Matthews has nobody on his line to make forehand to forehand give-and-goes with and it infuriates me to no end.

Why? He doesn't need waivers to be sent down. Might as well keep him in the system for as long as possible. Could trade Kapanen and then have him on ELC money instead.

I think it's a stylistically similar set up to Tavares-Marner with the primary zone entry being through the RW and then looking to the middle for the center for a shot or ringing it around the boards to the LW, Bracco's certainly good enough to fill that role offensively and it's really similar to Nylander on Matthews' RW. If that either frees up Kadri to play the LW (in hopes that we can trade Marleau) or there's another trade that pushes Nylander to center then I like Bracco on the top line for sure

and I'm sure that Babs won't love his defense, but as long as he's making an effort to get back then I think that line would be fine defensively

Nylander with Kapanen also makes sense to me

assuming we trade Kadri these are the lines I would like to see

Hyman Tavares Marner
Johnsson Matthews Bracco
Moore Nylander Kapanen

patience looks to be paying off with Bracco. He can afford the leafs to move out other players to make room without much of a drop off

This kid is a playmaking savant.

Has some work to do on the rest of his game, but if we could ever have a PP specialist forward on the Leafs... he’s it.

I don't think he'll make the Leafs out of camp next year simply due to the coach and position he plays, but he'll 100% be at least in the press box come march

If the Leafs enter next season with Marner/Nylander/X/Moore as the RW depth, maybe adding Bracco makes Kapanen expendable rather than giving him a raise.

Plus that Russian, Mikheyev. Kapanen should be traded, or moved to LW where he belongs. Our top-3 lines should all be similarly structured. We have three LHS goal-scoring centers & 3 RHS playmaking RW. Our LW should all be F1 muckers like Hyman.
