Love to hear people say that jb needs to get stronger when they have no idea or have never met him. All I know is that he worked his butt off all summer at the maple leafs facility in Toronto. He grow to 5'11" and added over 15 lbs so that he now ways 190lbs. How can anyone say that at those numbers the kid needs to get stronger without taking the ice with him. All I know is that I don't see him laying on the ground to often and that he is able to avoid most checks (which I think is a good thing). Since he has been seven years old he always seems to make the players around him better and never receives credit for that. He could always be more involved on the defensive side however if you spend 75% of your ice time in the offensive zone your saving your defense in a different way. Haven't seen much of Patrick Kane but I don't think he is very defensively active. Let's let the kid score and see where he ends up at the end of the year. Always amoung the top scores no matter where he's played (since 7 years old) look whose third in usdt behind kessel and Kane all time. Can't believe how much negative comments are made about a kid who just loves to play the game and never has a bad word to say about anyone. Every time he is on the ice is exciting to watch and always seems to make the great pass to setup a team mate.

I agree with this post right here. JB made big strides in the size department this offseason and his offensive skill set is progressing very well. Just as he dedicated this offseason to strength and size he will also come around defensively as well. He will never win a selke but his offensive instincts are off the charts and that will allow him to play top 6 in the NHL and be very valuable to the leafs.

Slowed down a bit since a stretch with 13 pts in 4 games. Still has at least 1 point in every game this season for a total of 9g+18a=27p in 14 games. 51 shots, 0 PIM's. Even 1 SHG. Does he play the PK often? I usually only get to watch highlights of Kitchener's games. A knock on him seems to be his defensive play so I would think the SHG was something of a fluke rather than JB becoming a penalty killer.

He usually doesn't play PK but has a bit lately. I wouldn't call him bad defensively anymore. He is much improved there.

He still doesn't like physical contact and shies away too much from loose pucks when he knows he'll get bumped. Also needs to lay off the complaining to the officials. But his game is taking steps. I wish the team had one more sniper for him to feed. Too much looking for Mascherin by default.

His defensive awareness is better, but I still see him flying the zone early a bit more than I'd like but there's been improvement. I fully agree with the second paragraph.

Bracco alone vs Konecny is going to be pretty close to equal value. Add Dermott and Dzerkials, and the Leafs made out like BANDITS in making that move down in the draft.

Not opinion.

Fact.

Wait until Bracco proves himself in the NHL. Konecny has had a solid start to his rookie year and as of right now he definitely has the edge.

Bracco is doing what konecny did last year while being a year older, and konecny is having a great start to his rookie season.. the leafs certainly didn't make out like bandits yet.

Why isn't Bracco in the AHL?

Nope. That's opinion, not fact.

Konecny is a goodplayer. I'd rather have him than the other three but we won't know what we got till we see them in the NHL.

Age restrictions between the CHL and AHL. Bracco isn't eligible to play in the AHL until next season. The same would apply for Konecny as well. It's either the NHL team or the CHL team until they're 20.

Bracco is eligible to play in the AHL this year. He was drafted out of the USNDTP.

Marlies are stacked. No room for him. He split last season between OHL and NCAA. Best to let him run through the OHL this year. He is still only a 97.

I'd rather see him dominate the OHL this year than just be another guy on the Marlies. Leafs can afford to be patient with him considering the depth of young forwards in the organization.

No. He's definitely AHL eligible.

He was sent to the CHL for the same reason Adam Brooks was, no room. It's a good problem to have, but eventually some forward prospects are going to have to be moved out. Let them battle it out to see who stays.

i love the enthusiasm but slow down buddy. None of that is a fact till bracco even makes the nhl let a lone has as good a start as konecny.

Bracco, Dzierkals and Dermott > Konecny

Not at all... We have so many winger prospects that I'd rather have quality.

Konecny is better than each of those players individually. Would you rather have 1 elite talent or 3 good prospects

Konecny is a really good player. I think he has upside like Patrick Sharp (in his prime).

That's a really good player but it's not elite.

I'd rather have three good prospects than one really good prospect.

Asset management. We already have Matthews, Marner and Nylander.

Konecny at present time is more valuable than Dzierkals + Bracco + Dermott.

That's just simple fact.

The Leafs are hoping that by taking 3 players instead of 1, they may get lucky.

Who knows, 2/3 of these players might be on the Leafs for 2018-2019.

I would love to see how Bracco does with the Marlies. I was the same with Connor Brown. The jr numbers were lovely but pro hockey is such a jump.

Just had another 4 point game, 2g 2a. Now sits at 3rd in the OHL in points. He also has still earned at least one point in every game this season for a total of 40 in 19 games.

now leading his team in scoring and ppg, very exciting player. It'll be interesting to watch him on the Marlies next year. It seems like the leafs brass are not rushing junior/teenage players into prominent roles with the marlies - Kapanen playing bottom 6 last year, Timashov/Johnsson not getting a ton of premium opportunity yet this year, so there may be a year of acclimatizing for him before he gets a prominent scoring role on a pro team. May be good for him to hone the defensive aspects of his game too

And you can easily move 1-2 of those guys (or some other winger(s) in the system) for a D prospect or more picks.
