BEAST!
This was great. Is he playing center?
He was playing on the wing at first 2 games against HK MVD while centering the PK line. Remaining 2 games he played center full-time.
What do you think his upside is? Bottom six forward such as a 3 or 4c?
Where would you compare him to where Yakimov was at?
Currently it looks to me that if he plays at C his upside is bottom six, I would really like to see him in the top six gritty winger role though (like Mike Knuble was on Ovechkin line or like Kulemin). And yes, he got all the talents to be a good penalty killer.
Comparing to Yakimov: Yakimov, imo, is more offensively gifted and better uses his body at the attacking end, while Dergachyov is slightly better at his own end and, what really stands out, he is very calm under pressure (a very valuable quality for a potential PK specialist). Also Yakimov already had a season of pro hockey at VHL at the time of his draft. Personally I would choose Yakimov between them, but it's really close and depending on expectations.
Cool, a Russian prospect with a properly-transliterated surname.
Couple of days ago Dergachyov scored a very nice goal in a MHL playoff game against HC MVD: went coast-to-coast and scored on a wrap around (at 2:11 of the highlight video below):

I may be wrong, but is that Gogol Bordello for the Goal music...?
As a Russian, I would spell it Dergachev.
And I would spell it Dergachyov, also as a Russian![]()
To me Dergachyov suggests an extra syllable, which shouldn't be there.
Either that or Dergach-yov. As in 'yo-yo'.
It's just one letter, Ё.
I've read up a bunch on him.
Seen him listed as a centre.
Does he project as an NHL centre?
Will the team who drafts him have a hard time getting him over here?
Is he a 2nd round pick? a 3rd? 4th? Obviously the Russian factor is involved here.
Thanks for the input. Really intrigued.
