Who would be 1st, just for the sake of conversation?

Mcdavid. Maybe not as fast, but his release speed and accuracy is top class

Eichel also has a fantastic top end shot.

IMO

Mcdavid
Boaser
Eichel

Top 3 shooters in the draft

It depends entirely on what you are ranking.

Mckeens hockey rated the best shot as the following.

1)Eichel
2)Strome
3)Mcdavid
4)Zacha
5)Meier

It just depends on the trait, because strome has a terrible shot, but it is incredibly accurate.

I guess Boeser would ranked high on release.

FWIW button claimed on tsn1040 he ranked boeser so high because he has one of the best releases he has seen the last number of years. Eichel does have an incredible shot to though.

I wouldn't rate McDavid's shot that high at all, but thanks for the response. Good company regardless.

Sizeable sniper with high end hockey IQ and solid details/execution. Reminds me most of Filip Forsberg.

Kids having a hell of a tournament. Hat trick, then 2 assist. Deadly wrist shot. Boesser the American sniper.

Apparently only Austin Mathews had more ice time???

Starting to really like this pick.

Well, good. :p: For me, it was really a toss-up between Bess and Nick Merkley at the time of the pick; stylistically, Bess was the guy.

Same here. Going into the draft, I had Boeser and Guryanov as the two fowards that I most wanted/hoped to draft, though I wasn't really expecting Merkley or Konecny to be there at 23. When those two plus Boeser were available at 23, I honestly said I'd be happy with any of them and was mostly worried that we were going to draft Harkins, Bittner, or Carlo instead.

Going forward I'm super excited about Boeser and the program he is going into at North Dakota. I'll keep an eye on Konecny and Merkley as they are both very good prospects too but we couldn't draft all 3, so no matter who we took we were going to pass on two very good prospects.

Johansson : "Brock is very hard to play against with and without the puck. Ron Wilson and the coaching staff are very impressed." #Canucks

Johansson : "Brock is as advertised, he's scoring, productive, on the #1 line, very promising player." #Canucks

U-S Junior hockey team gm Jim Johannson tells me that he is very impressed with #Canucks #1 draft pick Brock Boeser at camp this week.

JIm Benning is the worst gm in the leauge.... but props to him, for knowing his stuff.... canucks.com consensus was Oliver Kylington and Jeresmy roy, lol

I don't know how to embed videos properly but here's Boeser's first goal of his UND career:

Who judges a GM on drafting elite players.

Real intelligent people judge on AAV of 4th liners

and both would be terrible ways to judge a GM if that's the only basis of evaluation.

GMs should be judged on everything that covers their job - amateur scouting, drafting, pro scouting, contracts, trades, asset management, personnel management, development programs, revenue management, etc....

Benning has done an excellent job at the draft IMO. Everything else he's bombed... so judging the GM on everything - he's basically a great amateur scout, terrible GM.... his pro scouting has also been terrible, so it's basically just the amateur side of it that he seemed to have done really well in.

Would have loved to see him hired as our head scout.

With that said, Boeser is another pick of his I really like. I don't think there could be many complaints about the work he's done at the draft... the one and only area he's proved (to me at least) that he knows what he's doing.

Will need to drastically improve his skating to become Pacioretty.

Agreed but watching that last clip it looks like he has gained some speed and improved his skating during the offseason.

Most comparisons mention patrick sharp.

lol just had a hatty, this kid..He is eligible to the WJC right?
