He comes at the cost of Cory Schneider, I would not make that trade.
Anyways, back to topic, i think its a bit risky to take a high school player. Didn't Patrick White score 8 goals in 12 games in USHL?

the USHL is not a highschool league. Its a really good league that has a lot of NHLers come out of it.

So based on all these high end comparables who went on to put up great numbers in the NCAA? Are we expecting him to put up 1.0ppg next year with UND?

I really like Boeser was really hoping we would trade into the late first to draft him.

Van is going to have some size on RW with virtanen and boeser

That's a great reason not to draft someone based on a sample size of 12 games.

I think you're really underrating the USHL. It's a step below the CHL, but it's no longer a huge step. The USHL had as many draftees in the NHL draft this year as the OHL (31) and one more than the QMJHL (30). Even removing the USNTDP, the USHL still had 20 players drafted.

It's a good league, and Boeser will probably be a really good player.

Not sure how good of a league it is. The best 18-19 year olds are playing college hockey. The 20 year olds are late bloomers waiting to go to college. There are few 16 year olds, which as developmental league makes no sense and some very good 17 year olds heading into their draft year and then off to college.

Patrick White was an off the board pick in a weak draft year. Some rankings didn't even have him in the top-50. Boeser was ranked mid to late 1st round by most.

UND has a new coach and several new players coming in this year. It'll be a year with a lot of growing pains and his supporting cast might not be as good as it should be.

That said, .75ppg should he the floor for him.

As someone who watches almost every UND game and has a buddy on the team, it's easy to be excited about the potential of this years team. UND or BU probably have the top recruiting classes coming in this year and I expect both to compete for the national championship. The coaching change isn't as big of a deal as you're making it out to be as a long time assistant filled the HC duties. Plus it won't hurt having Nick Schmaltz as his center :)

Justin Schultz
Kevin Hayes
Mike Rielly

anyone else I'm missing?

Completely overblown

Shultz and Rielly were not 1st round picks, so it's not devestating

I hope Benning did his homework on this kid. It be like getting kicked in the Nuts x 10 if in 4 year he signs with someone else, like maybe close to his home.

Putting aside this nonsense, the kid seems very devoted at dev camp and seems to be taking a leadership role.

Very excited to see what he can do next year.

The Canucks have no interest in doing this. I'd like to see him in the WHL too.

no interest signing him to a contract yet?.. like is that a known fact or is it just your opinion?(actually wondering and not being sarcastic)
