It's early but Alex Nylander leads the scoring derby between 3 top 5 picks IMO early on.

Nylander 1G 3A 4 points (game winner)
Matthews 1G 1A 2 points
Tkachuk 1G 1A 2 points

Fascinating to see who does the best as we go deeper in the tournament. I expect both teams to be around late in the medal rd.

Why did you leave the guy out who has the most points?

I'd be very happy if Boston would be able to pick up Alex at the draft next year, he seems like a forward we are missing from our prospect pool.

Mississauga has lost 3 games in 3 that Nylander has been away. Including a loss to Guelph. I think its safe to say, Alex is the MVP of the Steelheads, his Center Mcleod is pointless in those 3 games. If you are a scout you notice these things. Nylander's play at the Worlds and how his OHL team and teammates play may have him as a rising stock commodity in draft rankings. For me he was always a top 5 pick so I am not surprised.

this has probably been beaten to death, and I'm sure TOR fans will claim William is the better player BUT...

Which brother has the highest potential or greater skill?

What do you expect? Both Nylanders play in the GTA, Leaf fans have been following William for the past 2 seasons and a few of us catch Steelhead games from time to time

Plus Alex is pretty much in Toronto's territory for the upcoming NHL draft.

If Alex is the BPA available whenever the Leafs are pick, it'll sure make the optics a lot less complicated.

He's looking to be a Top 5 pick the way he's going so he's on the cusp of being within striking distance of Shanny, Uncle Lou & Co…

If he's not & they fancy him, sure, they'll trade down just like they almost did even w/ Marner.

Im not surprised, Alex is an offensive catalist and McLeod has limitted offensive upside.

Even last year?

Big test coming up for him vs Canada on New Year's Eve.

If William doesn't play, Alex is going to be the number one threat for Sweden and all eyes will be on him. Going to see how he reacts to such a high pressure game.

If I understand it right, if sweden win against denmark (which they should) then they have already won the group, Sweden has then nothing to play for really in game against canada, they can lose 10-0 and still win the group. It should be more pressure in the playoff then when it really matters. Why should the big test be in a game that do not matter for his team?

My mistake, didn't realize that. I guess we'll have to wait until the elimination games

Besting the previous champions would be a good confidence booster one would think.

If A.Nylander ever develops that elite first step, watch out.

Nylander is a terrific skater. He's smooth, can change pace, and he has a separation gear that allows him to score on breakaways. He doesn't necessarily need to develop an elite first step to what is already very good. Skating is a strength of his, not something to be concerned about.

TSN has him at 6'0 195 already? To me, personally, he doesn't look like 195 yet but wow... If those numbers are right, he might be able to get up to 6'2 210ish in a few years.

No freaking way he's 194 lbs. Listed as 176 lbs right before the Hlinka but he is closer to 6'1 than 6'0.

Sweden at the WJC only has 1 forward who weighs more than 194 lbs and Alexander is clearly one of the lightest players on the team.

He'd be a consolation prize for me. I like him but like the Finnish two better.

Patrik Laine or Jesse Puljujarvi would be perfect!
